Hi, just wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm trying to find out what I'll be entitled to maternaity pay wise, I've been working in my job full time since first week of Jan 2015, however been off sick with other issues since the last week of May 2015, I fell pregnant in June 2015 and still yet to return to work, I work for the nhs, and I'm coming up to the 28 weeks statutory sickness policy. I don't no weather I qualify for maternity pay from my job as I'm sure you have to have been there 12 months. Does anybody no what I would be entitled too? And how much I'll receive ?
Thanks
Re: Maternity pay worries please help
1.) What country do you live in?
2.) What is your company's maternity leave policy?
3.) You've been off work since May for being sick and you only started in January? Do you get paid during this time?

Try calling your local citizens advice bureau, they might be able to advise you.
You need to sit down with HR ASAP and most likely will have to go back to work, or go on unemployment and benefits if they go through with capability... or do what I did and get a job that I could much better manage with my condition since that was a far more sustainable change
If you're expecting a baby and wondering what support you're entitled to, here's a quick, no-stress breakdown of your maternity rights — and how to work out exactly what you’ll get.
🍼 Maternity Leave
You're allowed up to 52 weeks off work:
The first 26 weeks are Ordinary Maternity Leave
The next 26 weeks are Additional Leave
You can start your leave as early as 11 weeks before your due date.
💷 Maternity Pay
There are two main types, depending on your situation:
✅ Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP)
If you’ve been with your employer for 26+ weeks and earn at least £123/week:
First 6 weeks: 90% of your weekly earnings
Next 33 weeks: £187.18/week or 90% of your earnings (whichever is lower)
🟡 Maternity Allowance
If you don’t qualify for SMP (e.g. you’re self-employed or recently changed jobs), you might get Maternity Allowance instead:
Up to £172.48/week for 39 weeks (paid by the government)
