Stitches extreme pain when peeing!

Anyone else?? It is excruciatingly painful to pee, the spray bottle burns too. Anyone know how long this will last? I'm 5 days pp.

Re: Stitches extreme pain when peeing!

  • I'm in the same boat- day 4pp I leaned over to grab something and pretty sure I pulled a stitch, so painful! I'm also noticing some pus like discharge when I pat myself dry- hoping they aren't infected. Baby's dr apt is today and I'll ask them to check me...
  • They gave me some cream and tucks for the first week/week and a half. Well cream ran out yesterday and I had to buy tucks. But I took baths everyday to soak and felt like that helped with burning. Nurse also said to lean forward while peeing. It still burns a little bit but nothing like it was at first.

  • Have you tried dermoplast spray? It numbs the area and really helps.
  • Try squirting warm water while you're peeing and as soon and you finish dab (not wipe) with the witch hazel pads and spray demaplast every chance you get. If it doesn't feel better call your doctor and tell them you suspect a stitch may have broken.
  • You should def be using the dermaplast every time at this point! My hospital sent me home with all kinds of magic last time and it was really not too bad but the dermaplast was def the best! I had 2nd degree tear and didn't ever ask how many stitches, babe was over 9 lbs so it wasn't pretty! :)

  • Take something to take the swelling down. I had stinging stitches that were so painful and irritating!! I took one advil and one Tylenol, I also did a 24 hour - little quick bath every time I used the bathroom versus use that spray bottle. I even peed in the tub once I couldn't handle the pain. The pain got better after this but it lasted for 3 days before I took action and took something / tried the bathing. Also relax. Staying off your feet with help the swelling.
  • I'm so glad I found this thread. I had originally posted my own but gah! I'm blaming it on traumatic l&d experience :)

Is the derma safe to use if you got an episiotomy? I am sure this is dumb but everything is so tender...I'm nerve wracked about my first bm.

  • With DD I tore a little, and they wanted to do a few stitches but I declined. So going was definitely painful. I used the little bottle they gave me with warm water, but there were points that it was too much pain to use just the bottle. I sat in the tub with warm water covering the area and went that way. It helped a lot.
  • You shouldn't have puss like discharge. Call the doc just in case. Discharge maybe but puss like don't risk it!

I see some yellow and blood. I was hoping its normal healing :/ I'm going back to the dr on Monday just in case. I am very swollen down there... delivered on tues but no one spoke to me care. Im very stressed out that I've torn my stitches?
