My midwife told me about that this morning at my first appointment. 4w5d. She said if I start having ms that is the best thing to take since they are no longer prescribing zofran.
It wasn't very effective for me. I was so gorked on the Unisom I couldn't function, and I think I felt worse with it. I did try B6 alone, and no difference. I stopped my prentals with iron and switched to a milder one. I honestly think that helped the most! I'm not vomiting like I was last week, and have evened out. Still nauseous, but I can keep food in!
Unisom (doxylamine) and Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) are the two ingredients in the new morning sickness prescription drug, Diclegis. This Rx brand name med costs about $700 per bottle, but both of these ingredients over the counter separately are about $5 each. Either way, these medications have been proven to be effective and safe... of course that doesn't mean they work for everyone 100% of the time. If you go with the OTC products, I would take only half a unisom tablet, which is 12.5 mg, to reduce the drowsiness.
It didn't work for me. Zofran hasn't been helping much either, but this is baby #3 so maybe I'm immune. When I go to the dr I'm going to ask him for something else. I just don't have time to be nauseous.
I'm getting by with b6 I have not tried unisom yet. My nausea is defintly more tolerable but still hanging around! This is my 3rd and the first time I have been sick for so long
