New England weather walking

I'm due in Dec and have been getting to the habit of walking everyday with my pup but I'm worried about how the weather will affect the baby when I plan to take him on strolls. Like 30-45min everyday. There are town greens and paved trails near me and I heard this winter will be bad in CT. Anyone else done this in the dead of winter with a stroller and a dog before?

  • You'll just have to play it by ear and see how it is when the baby comes. You might not even feel like getting out for the first 6 weeks to go on long walks so this might not be an issue. OR, if you are feeling good then bundle that baby up and get out there. You'll have to be the judge of it.

  • I nannied for a baby through a New England winter and we just bundled up and went for it. You'll be so desperate to get out of the house that it will be worth it. Alternatively, walk the mall, but then you can't take the dog.

  • Although "they" are predicting a lot of precipitation for new england this winter, it's also supposed to be a little warmer ( both due to el niño). So it's likely that the extra precipitation will be rain. Worse comes to worse you could always join the mall walkers :)
  • The problem I had walking DS in the winter was that the sidewalks were not always cleared, or they were not cleared that well and it was hard to push the stroller.
If the sidewalks are cleared in your area and you bundle up your LO you should be fine. Just to be on the safe side I used to try to go for walks after lunch when it was usually the warmest.
