We had our official sit down with RE yesterday. This is my second time with this process (9 yr old twins from clomid, dx was unknown infertility, with ex husband) and dh's first. TTC 14 months. 2 cycles of clomid resulting in bfn's. Moved cross country in August & started with a new RE last month. All labs have looked good except slightly elevated prolactin. Dh SA was great except increased viscosity. Initial exam & labs last month. Yesterday was blood draw, worst one yet. I have tiny uncooperative veins. After 6 pokes (one of which hit a nerve OUCH!) they finally had just barely enough blood. Followed by quick CM exam & follicular ultrasound. We finally sat down with dr almost 2 hrs later. SA culture showed bacteria. Apparently this bacteria is from the prostate, is common, and can be passed back and forth between us with no symptoms. 14 days of doxycyline for both of us & use protection until meds finished. That should help with the increased viscosity. Then me. Current thought is hyperprolactinemia is my issue. Dr thinks my previous T-TTC is different than current. Prescribed Parlodel until I get a BFP & repeat prolactin labs in 4 weeks. Its hard to believe that this could be the only issue and that previous issues had no correlation to current. Trying to feel hopeful but preparing for what might be next if this doesn't work. Anything I should know about Parlodel?
Sorry for the long post. Thanks for reading.
Re: New plan: Parlodel (children mentioned)
If it is caused by a tumor, those are benign in 99.9 percent of cases and usually reduce with medication. You would have to take your medication everyday for life, however, unless an MRI shows the tumor has decreased or gone away for 2 years. If you have concerns about the cause of your elevated prolactin level, ask your doctor. He should be able to give you guidance.
