Keeping baby's room warm

Since it's starting to get colder here I've noticed our baby's room gets really cold at night. She does wear long pants and long sleeve onesie and I put her in a sleep sack. But when I feed her in the middle of the night or early morning her face, ears and hands are real cold and her nose gets really stuffy. So a lot of times I bring her back into our room but then she gets too hot considering our room gets too hot at night. Does anybody use a nursery heater for their baby? Do you recommend anything to help?

Re: Keeping baby's room warm

  • Heaters make me super nervous! I've just been doing like you said, layers (long sleeve onesie, socks, sleep sack). I have also been leaving a small blanket in there when I'm feeling really guilty about cold hands. He's 7 months now, can pull the blanket off his face during play, and is usually all over the crib by the time I go in there anyways so I don't worry about it suffocating him. I'd rather put a small blanket in there than worry about a space heater... Maybe that's just me though :). Good luck! Stay warm!

  • @EricandKaren I worry about using a heater too and I doubt I'd get any sleep if I used one
  • I was thinking about getting the dyson heater cause it seems much safer and would give me some peace of mind. Idk maybe I'll still stress no matter what lol
  • We have an infared heater that we use. We've used it in our room for years. It's supposed to automatically shut off if something malfunctions. That's never happened, and we've never had any problems. I feel safe with it.

Also, we have an AngelCare baby monitor with a pad that fits under LO's mattress. It's supposed to beep if she stops breathing. We've never had it beep in the middle of the night, but in the morning sometimes we forget to turn it off, and when we take her out of her bed it beeps like crazy because it doesn't detect her breathing. It really helps me sleep at night. A friend of ours has a breathing monitor that you put on baby's diaper. The put a blanket on LO one night, she pulled it over her face and stopped breathing. The monitor alerted them, and they woke up and found the blanket over her face. Super scary, but that monitor, by the Grace of God, saved her life that night.

  • @richdog I think I need to invest in one of those. I can hear my Lo breathe on the monitor but if she turns the other way or ends up on the other side of the crib I can't hear her anymore and I have to go check on her
  • @chelsco13 I really was skeptical at first, but after our friends told us their story, I knew I had to get one or I would never sleep. I highly recommend it. We got ours at Wal-Mart online. It is a baby monitor, breathing monitor, night light and will even tell you the temperature in the baby's room.
