Infertility

IC after IUI

Hi there ladies! So I had an IUI this afternoon (26 hours post ovidrel) . I did a cycle of Femara and Gonal F and had 2 possibly 3 mature follicles. My doctor suggested having intercourse this evening and tomorrow to make sure ovulation is covered but I am feeling really yucky and just don't want to do anything right now. Any opinions on IC after IUI?? Even if my IUI was before ovulation (which it very likely is) sperm can hang around and wait for ovulation is my understanding. So would I really be increasing my chances with IC? What has been yalls experience with this??

Re: IC after IUI

  • Hi @mskeenan! Although i dunno how I ultimately got KU, my DH and I did have sex the night after our IUI, but not the next day. And I'm currently KU. I will say it wasn't the worlds best sex, but that ultimately because it was the culmination of a long week trying to have sex as much as possible because we knew I was ovulating in the near future.
If u can do it, def have sex that night. But with everything, don't stress over it.
    My fx for you!!

  • I also had sex the night after my IUI and the next day as well. Again, because of the cramping it wasn't that comfortable, but I think it just made me feel more secure that all of our bases were covered. I ultimately got a BFN that cycle, but I plan on doing the same this cycle!

  • My RE said they recommended the night off purely to to get some natural seminal fluid up there.  Let's be honest, he probably doesn't actually have any swimmers left after his sample that morning?  Think about it, that would be twice in one day which we all know is not recommended because it doesn't give the swimmers a chance to re-generate.
  • Thanks for the input ladies . We ended up skipping last night I had a horrible headache and was exhausted from the eventful day . I don't know why I get so worked up over a quick procedure !! We BDed this am so hopefully that'll help but I think after that I'm done ! Haha .

@RMM1204 thank you !!! Congrats on your BFP !! How far along are you ?!!! Hope you have a happy healthy 9 months !!

@erica0901 sorry about the BFN your last cycle I hope this one is better !! Is your next IUI soon ??

@bsckgb7 that's an interesting thought I hadn't thought of that ! It's crazy how everyone's doctor says something different . I'm prob over thinking it all . Hopefully the IUI was enough !!

  • @mskeenan thx! I'm only 4.5 weeks. Just had my beta on Monday- so it's all still very new. Still haven't wrapped my head around it.
Sounds like you made a good decision for yourself. I think that there just isn't a "right" answer always in this process. Fx for your TWW! Do you go in for beta in 2 weeks or are you doing a HPT?
