Gallbladder type attacks...when there is no gallbladder. ..

I haven't had a gallbladder in ten years. I told my ob at 24 weeks i feel like I'm having gallbladder attacks. I thought he was going to laugh at me but instead told me he's suspicious i have a calcified stone. He said the best way to tell is xrays and they dont want to do them at this point. It doesnt matter what i eat. ...doesn't matter what i do. I have severe pain that radiates into my back. I have a high pain threshold but this daily agony is more than i can take. I have three months of this to go through. .. has anyone else had this and if so what did you do? Just sitting and not eating I'm in pain. Tylenol doesnt even touch this. Any advice would be appreciated!

  • I would ask for an ultrasound of your organs.  I just had one due to a high level in my blood test and since I do not have gallbladder. It can at least determine if it is related to your pancreas or liver functions.

    Good luck!

  • Is it possible to get a second opinion? I mean, the X-ray concern is valid but if your OB had no alternatives and just moved on, that's not ok. Phantom gallbladder pain is no joke.

  • You'll probably have to get a scan to see what's really going on. I've had issues with this not pregnant and it was really painful. My doctor told me that depending on how much they took when they removed the gallbladder there still could be stones in the "valves" that would have connected to the gallbladder. Mine ended up actually being kidney stones but there can definitely bet issues after having your gallbladder removed. Also, pregnancy often causes issues for women with gallbladders (there are quite a few women who need theirs removed after having troubles throughout pregnancy with it) so it could be that you are having a flare up due to that. I'm sorry you're going through this and I hope you get answers soon!
  • I agree ask about an ultrasound. Maybe go to your GP instead of your OB since this isn't pregnancy related. Could also definitely be kidney stones which often have similar symptoms to gallstones.

  • I just learned today the if you have to see a GI doctor make sure they will take on a pregnant person...it is very frustrating!
