Attempting the impossible

Normally I am a size 0 or 1, have been my whole life and I can't gain and keep any more weight on then that. But I am 4wks pp and a size 2. I haven't worked out at all yet but I really want to work on my stomach muscles however I don't want to loose the boob and butt weight I've gained. I'm definitely going to try, I just feel so much better this size compared to before surprisingly. Just wish I wasn't so loosey goosey on my core muscles, it's starting to hurt my back carrying the LO all the time.

  • There is a real difference in saying something like "has anyone lost their post baby weight or tightened their tummy up and kept their bigger bust and butt size?" And saying "I'm so skinny and always have been even without working out I'm at a size 2! I can eat and eat and I just can't put on weight!" you could have asked your question withOut adding I'm a size 2 and I can't gain weight. Discussing your body image issues can be done tactfully. I never said you weren't allowed to feel insecure about being too small. I was implying it irritates me when you make others feel insecure about their size, which you did, (intentionally or not) by posting your sizes and the fact that you "can't gain weight". my freedom to comment on any post I choose including the ones that I don't like is part of posting on an online forum. Good luck to you, I really hope you can tighten up your size 2 core and keep your big butt and boobs.....
  • Most experts in weight loss (and gain) believe that you can't select a specific area to lose or gain weight. Your body is already predispositioned to put on or give away fat from certain areas. I'm 6 weeks myself and although I haven't hardly exercised, my abdomen is starting to tighten up more and more. I think it just happens naturally as the uterus continues to shirk (something that can take up to 6 weeks). I still have excess skin/fat in my belly but I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon. It's just one of those things, like stretch marks or larger feet, that mark you as having gone through pregnancy.

  • Sounds like strength training targeted to your abdominal muscles might be right for you. If you're looking to maintain your current weight, calculate how much you would burn working out, and add it back into your diet in calorie dense food.
  • I agree this could've been worded a lot better. Also, OP you really need to change your user name. Internet safety 101
  • I can relate to everything you're saying. I don't think it's fair that someone who is overweight is "allowed" to complain about their body and what they want to change about it but someone who is smaller is regarded as bragging. I pretty much have the body of a 15 year old boy. I don't have any boobs or butt and even though I'm considered skinny by most people im not happy with my body.

I'm now six weeks post partum and am starting T-25 today. Hopefully ill be able to tone up and gain some muscle.

  • Thank you @beachbabe22 I just don't think some ppl understand but oh well. It doesn't change what I said or how I feel. What is t-25?
  • ^ T25 = beach body workout. I did if after DS1 and loved it! It's intense, but only 25 minutes.
  • I will say that you can't 'spot loose weight' on the body. Lol My body building/fitness buff DH reminds me of this! I always have a full C cup pre baby and small body. I would LOVE to keep the D's but I know when I start lifting weights, they will be the first place my extra body weight comes from. I do not feel bad for wanting that. I was a double zero and flat in HS....I wasn't thrilled. I still have a hard time gaining healthy weight! Everyone is different. All my friends thought I was the luckiest person ever. The grass is always greener!!!! I suggest light weights with high reps. Also, eating clean(healthy and not processed foods) will help a ton, too.

You are just a few weeks PP so if you wait, your body might actually snap back on its own, too.
  • I understand that you didn't intend this to be a flame post about size, and I totally get that thin women experience microaggressions all the time. I also think it's important for the wide range of women on this forum to feel supported, and that it's a safe place to talk about the radical experiences we're going through with parenting and our changing bodies. Here's an article that might help you understand how the wording in your original post could come across as unsupportive to the other women on this board. You said yourself you want this to be a safe place, here's how you can do your part.

Also, best of luck. I've always been moderately big chested and I'm watching them balloon up as I nurse. It's a novelty, sure, but I'm not convinced I want to keep them this way forever! However your body changes, I hope you celebrate it as the wonderful vessel it is for taking care of you and your baby!

  • @beachbabe22. T25 is effing amazing!! It will change your life! Be prepared to hurt but once your make it to the beta discs, you will be the strongest and sexiest you have ever felt!! I just started back on Jillian Michaels and can't wait to have the base to get back to T25. Working my way back up. I'm too weak right now to do T25 right off the bat.
  • @dmbfan46835 what Jillian Michaels are you doing? Can tou give me an idea what T25 entails and where can I get it? And how often do you do it?
  • @jlawson23 thank you! I really appreciate you saying that you are totally right on where I was coming from.
  • I second what @ktbkitten mentioned about diastasis recti. (Separated muscles.) I def have this and it's important to avoid crunches and sit ups and strengthen the core in other ways. You can find info online about it and hopefully approach rebuilding your abdomen wisely. I am excited to begin as well.
  • You're welcome! Dont stress it! If I've learned anything about weight loss/gain is that you will never be truly happy with that aspect of your body until you learn to love yourself during every phase/transition you go through. I say this because even though now I am about 80 pounds lighter than I was 2 years ago and weigh less than I did pre-pregnancy. I STILL struggle now. I don't like that none of clothes look attractive on me and my boobs are getting droopy from breastfeeding. So I am just saying we all have body issues, and for me talking about them helps! So you did just right @rachellegiacco! By the way I hope you're able to mainain your pregnancy body! :-)

I previously struggled with my weight (obesity.) and I did not take @rachellegiacco post to be offensive. I honestly didn't even think about it the way some of you did. It came across as I really enjoy my body during or after pregnancy... These are my body issues... And I'm going to work on myself, so I can be more confident. I saw the post more as a vent. Not that she was bragging. Like I don't even know how one could get that from her post.... And like I said I've dealt with the opposite side of the coin previously in life.

Agree with this. I've struggle with weight issues my whole life and didn't see anything offensive or inappropriate about the post. I was super surprised at the comments.
  • Lurker. I would suggest Tracy Anderson because her workouts are designed specifically for women. She has a series called Metamorphosis and there are different versions that focus on one specific area of the body and a version that is for total body. Since you want to focus on your abs, I'd recommend her Metamorphosis Ab DVD. Maybe that will help you tone without losing shape. Just wait until you have full clearance from your doctor for an ab workout. Good luck!!

  • My OB told me to research the tupler technique. It is supposed to help "knit" the ab muscles back together.
