2nd Trimester

Band from spooning!

With this pregnancy and the first, my favorite sleeping position is being the big spoon, while my fairly large husband is the little spoon. I have to put my leg up over his hip and get very close. It's quite adorable, but around this time (21 weeks) my hubby can feel the baby kick and he unfortunately is way active at night and kicking my husband in the back. Lol. So I have been band from spooning for the rest of the pregnancy and I'm bummed. Anyone else's spouse/partner band them from doing things?

Re: Band from spooning!

  • I'm not band from spooning but I don't find it comfortable right now :( my husband doesn't let me lift anything (not that I would lol). he hasn't set out any other "rules" he lets me get away with just about anything right now within reason.
  • Loading the player...
  • nope, my SO hasn't banned me from doing anything at all.. like PP said, just find a different way to cuddle at night. maybe try being the little spoon or something
  • ...can you be the little spoon instead?
  • To be fair, it's his body and if he doesn't want to be spooned, that deserves respect as well.

I would get a pregnancy pillow.

  • While my husband doesn't ban me from doing things, I do respect him if there are things he doesn't exactly like and vise versa. In my previous pregnancies (and I'm sure this one will be the same) once the baby gets active he prefers me (my belly) not to lay up against him and get kicked all night but honestly, I can understand that lol as I'm not the biggest fan of being kicked all night either.

I think it was the wording OP used-- being "banned from spooning" sounds rather punitive.
  • What does Band From Spooning sing again?

  • Hi Guys, it was meant to be funny. I respect him enough not to be kicked all night. I think it's funny. We (moms) get excited about the kicks, but the guys have not had months to get used to that feeling. It's not a problem, (wasn't looking for a solution, just starting convo) but like someone said it's his body. My Husband has become my Nurse lately and asks me if I took my medicine or to elevate my feet. I just think it's cute that this is the one thing that bothers him about the pregnancy.
Btw, apologies for the misspelling in the original post. Didn't see it.
  • I just wanted to say I think it's an adorable problem to have. Not through the night but I do that with my gigantic dog if she gets in bed with me while I'm relaxing.
