January 2016 Moms

Did you reach the DD of your 2nd baby?

My first daughter was born exactly on her due date, now I'm 27 weeks with my 2nd daughter and due in January. I know these next few months will fly because of the holidays, but I'm worried this baby will come early and catch me off guard and unprepared. I work part time, and constantly walk my 2 dogs so in pretty active unlike my first pregnancy. When did y'all give birth to your first and second kids?

Re: Did you reach the DD of your 2nd baby?

  • I'm a FTM, however I know my husband appeared 3 weeks early as did his sister. I was due March 16 and I came Feb 24. It's probably almost totally situational and dependent on your pregnancy and I doubt there's honestly a way to tell 100% for sure ahead of time. Just be prepared ahead of time and you won't have to worry :)

  • This is my second pregnancy, and I really truly feel like I will go before my due date. I don't know if it's paranoia or what, but I really feel like this baby will come early.

  • With my first I was induced at 41weeks and he was born at 41w+1d. For my second I had a scheduled c-section at 39w+6days and we made it to that date.

  • My first was induced at 41 weeks and my second was born at 42 weeks. They say second babies usually come sooner, but not always! I wish there was a way to know when baby will make their appearance!
  • My first came at 38 weeks and I am terrified I am going to go early this time too!!!
  • I totally expected my second to come earlier but he came later. But both my babies were born in week 39 - he was only four days later than his sister. It seemed like an eternity at the time though! My mom's babies all came a week earlier than the one before, so as the third baby, I was three weeks early.
  • My twins were born at 35+1. I'm hoping to go full term this time and there's no reason so far to expect I won't. My birthday is 5 days before my due date and I won't be surprised if she decides to steal it from me.
  • I fully expect this baby, my second, to come later than my first. My son was born at 32w2d and I'm on progesterone injections to prevent another preemie. So I'm shooting for 37 weeks minimum this time around. I'm trying to be optimistic but realistic at the same time. My hospital bag will be packed by the end of this week and plans are in place for childcare for my son regardless of when I go into labor.

It never hurts to have your go bag packed early.
  • My first came one day after my due date. I have a feeling this one will come early, but I am hoping not more than a week early. Only time will tell!

  • My first was born 2 weeks late and I delivered vaginally but it was a long rough labor, about 24 hours worth.

My second was 2 weeks early and labor was much easier, only about 8 hours.

I'm right there with ya, fun shots and all! Held out until 34 weeks the first time, but since I am now almost to 30, we are putting our parents on alert, and packing bags for me and kiddos this week, just to be safe! Our due date is the 4th (by ultrasound, 7th by calendar). I'm just shooting for the week before Christmas, and if he hangs in longer, it's a bonus.
  • I am so scared about this. Mi first Wars full therm, but my second was born at 31 weeks, this is muy third pregnancy, and I am so sacred about having a preemie again :(
My fue dar is Jan 16 bit I rally want todo take everything ready before muy week 31.
  • My sister had a 31 weeker the first time around due to PPROM and was able get to 34 weeks with her second with the help of progesterone, mag drips and bed rest. Her son barely had to stay in the NICU. It was amazing how much of a difference three weeks made.
  • @EstrogenFest is there a correlation between level of physical activity and due date? I never heard that before but it's very interesting.

  • @estogenfest very very interesting. I know exercise is good anyway so I guess lowering chance of pre-term labor is only another benefit if it is true!
  • I was in and out of my Drs. Office constantly with contractions with baby #3 (the first 2 were c-sections) and I just knew she was coming early.
    Nope.
in the end I had to be induced.

I'm going to assume this little guy is the same (less BH contractions this go around). Mine just like to hang out.
    N (2004)A (2007), N (2010), and L (due 1/2016)
  • First 39w4d, 9.3lbs
    Second 37w, 7.10lbs

This one, I'll be excited to make it to Christmas (38w5d).
  • My SIL was induced at 42 weeks for both her pregnancies. I am a STM, so I will have to see.
  • I was days over due with all 3 of my kids. So I think my fourth will go over his EDD as well. I'm not expecting to go into labor before my due date at all
  • With my 1st I never really noticed BH, I mean if my hand was on my belly I could feel it but I didn't physically feel it. This time I'm only 27 weeks and if I sit still to long I start to have uncomfortable Braxton hicks. Not exactly painful, but definitely worse than with my first pregnancy.
  • Yep the Braxton hicks come earlier with each pregnancy.

    Well ....

    1st - Term +11 (induced)
2nd - 39 weeks (induced due to SPROM)
    3rd - Term + 11 (induced)

So as you can see I don't go into labour naturally, so although I am secretly hoping to be a little early This time(38w plus) i'm not holding my breath. All my babies need inducing and don't come on their own accord. On the plus side I have short labours - longest 6 & 1/2 hours and shortest 4 & 1/2 hours! Yay. Although they were excruciating !!!
