I'm trying to figure out if I want to buy a set or just separates. I don't plan on using the bumper that comes with the set (I may just get the breathable bumper) and I don't think we will have use for the quilt. Dh wants the quilt b/c he thinks it's cute and will make the room, but what would I do with it? I can't put it in or on the crib, so I could only put it on the rocker, but it's too big and I think it might look funny.
What about the crib skirt - I notice in the crib I'm looking at, you can hardly see the skirt. I'm not sure what stage the mattress was at, but what's the point if you can't see it? I figured I would get a new bedding set once we change to the toddler bed anyway. I was thiking of just getting a plan colored skirt instead that compliments the valance, border and accessories that we get.
What are you doing for your nursery setup? Any advise would be so helpful at this point!
Re: Tell me about your bedding!!
We're also not going to use a bumper for safety reasons. My friends that recently had children have told me that the quilt is typically not worth the money - it can hang on the side of the crib until the kid is able to sit up on his own, but at that point, it has to go. The only thing they have really used it for is tummy time, and you can use any blanket for that.
I think we'll just get some fitted sheets and a crib skirt. My opinion is that even on the cribs where you can't see much of the crib skirt, it's still good to get it because otherwise you'll be looking at all of the bars and whatnot that sit under the mattress.
I bought mine off of eBay. It was a 9 pc set. It's white, pink and cream colored. Has white dragonflies on it. The set includes: fitted sheet, crib skirt, quilt, 2 window valences, diaper stacker, toy thingy, bumper pads and I can't remember what else.
Once she moves to a toddler bed, I can turn around and sell the set. I also have my 1st DD's set. It was an Amy Coe 3 pc set (bumper, fitted sheet and quilt) We bought extra fitted sheets and someone bought the decorative pillow for us.
