Drying up milk

I switch to formula a week ago because of decreased supply but still pumping less and less to dry up milk but I've stopped pumping for two days now and my boobs are so sore. Is there anything I can do to totally dry up the milk? I figure soreness is normal from what I read

Re: Drying up milk

  • From what I've read just pump enough to ease discomfort and it will dry up. I had 2 weeks that I was pumping maybe once every 4-8 hours because antibiotics prevented me from using my breast milk, and in that time my volume definitely reduced. I no longer leaked or got those pinched nipple feelings.

  • I took 2 sudafed a day and put frozen cabbage in my bra for 30 mins at a time, 2 times a day and my milk dried up in 3 days!
  • Ice packs. I used an ice pack for 30 minutes each night and it really helped me dry up. Also, Mortin for the discomfort.

  • Ice packs help a lot. Also, tight sports bras all the time and don't stimulate the nipples at all.

This. Make sure it's the sudafed you get from behind the pharmacy counter. I kept the cabbage leaves on until the leaves were wilted then exchanged them for new cold ones. I smelled like a nasty garden, or as dh says wood LOL but it worked! Also I ate 1/4 tsp sage 3x/day for 3 days. I'm completely dried
  • I did it cold turkey. Wear bras 24 hours a day and even when you shower. The soreness only lasted a few days
  • @chelseajeanene did you feel lumps? And how long did it take
  • @bbudden92 to me they felt like two big rocks inside my boobs lol I felt better about a week after but the bad soreness was gone by then. I advoided touching them in fear of stimulating them. I wore my bra 24/7 for 2-3 weeks as a just in case thing because the two times I did take the bra off, I had some leaking
  • Cabbage helped a lot, ice, and ibuprofen! I also pumped when I couldn't stand the pain anymore, just enough to feel somewhat comfortable again. I felt comfortable after 3-4 days and then I'm pretty sure my milk was dried up after 2 weeks.
