I'm going through this now! Congested stuffy nose and cough!
We're going on almost a week of it....but it gets better each day. Here's what I've done that works.. - fold a blanket and put it under the crib mattress to elevate it - get a humidifier (we have the Vicks Starry Night Cool Mist Humidifier) and we run it on max at night...ours automatically shuts off it ran out of water - Saline nose drops (we use Little Remedies)....2-6 drops per nostril as needed (about every 3-4 hours we do it and always before bed!) - Nose bulb...we use the one from the hospital after the saline drops and we love it! - Infant Tylenol, we use it at night to help her sleep and we usually just give her one dose before bed and that's it. Make sure you talk to pediatrician about the dosage for weight of baby
Hope baby feels better soon! Their first cold can take a lot longer than normal to go away because their bodies need to figure out how to fight off the cold!
I resorted to using the Rock n Play again for a few nights when my little guy had a cold last week so he could breathe a little easier. He kept waking himself up with his stuffy nose. All the other is good advice too although I personally would avoid the Tylenol.
I agree with everything PP listed, If you do no feel comfortable with tylenol (I only give for fever), Hylands has both cold tiny dissolving tablets and a night time cough syrup. I love the night time cough syrup. I just give about 2.5 Ml while LO is in the bath so it can start to kick in by bedtime. I like the hyland brand because it is a little more natural. Honest Company also has a breath easy rub similar to Vicks and I've been using that on his feet, chest and back before bed.
So my baby only seems to have cold symptoms at night. Totally fine and happy during the day then at night he is stuffy and coughs and waking up like every 2 hours.
