The Fetal Doppler...

Hey ladies!

First time around I was able to hear a heartbeat at home ~10 weeks.  We don't get to hear a heartbeat until my 12 week appointment, so this was quite amazing to actually do at home with my husband :-)

However... that doppler broke... It was pretty cheap and no longer turns on.

So two questions here:
1. For those that already has a little one, and used an at home fetal doppler - how early were you able to hear the heartbeat at home?
2. Do you recommend a brand of fetal doppler?

This thing just helped me sleep at night.  I am the klutz.  You know - the one that just fell down the stairs.  Or falls off bicycles.  Or trips on painted lines.  That's me.  So I love the little piece of mind from this small, beautiful piece of equipment.

  • I loved our Doppler! It saved my sanity many times. I have the sonoline B. I was able to find the heartbeat at 10w3d last time. I'm looking forward to trying again!

  • I'm 7 weeks today and I used a Doppler last night and picked up a very steady heartbeat :). It's such a magical moment listening to your baby's heartbeat for the first time ❤️

  • With my son I rented a doppler from babybeats.com and it was AWESOME because I found his heartbeat at 7 weeks, and didn't get to see the Dr until 8, so I had peace of mind a week early! And before people say "no, you cant find it that early, it must have been yours" no it wasn't. I could distinctly hear mine and his, his was in the 160's. I was even able to get it recorded on my phone! Granted, it took half an hour of trying every evening until I finally found it, and I had to have the wand in a very specific spot at a specific angle. But still, SO worth it! I am getting one with this one, too :0)

  • I used an angelsounds Doppler and I heard a heartbeat with both babies around 16 weeks. It's a less expensive Doppler, so I don't imagine it will pick up a heartbeat much sooner.

@NavyFlyer were you on the October 14 board? Your name looks familiar!

  • Just remember if you have an anterior placenta it might be harder or take longer to find
