Re: ***3rd trimester check in 10/19/15***

  • 3rd trimester is going alright for me. I am 29w2d and had a growth scan at 28w. Our little lady has slowed down a bit in growth but our little guy, who's growth they were concerned about, had a big growth spurt. For now, we have an appt at 31 weeks to check on their growth again. It is getting a little difficult for the u/s tech to get a lot of readings because they are running out of room in there!

This past weekend we had our final shower and had an amazing showing of love and generosity! This week will definitely be spent organizing, doing laundry, and putting things together for our little ones. It's all becoming more and more real that this extremely long journey to holding our own little ones is almost over.

  • Hello! @blessedwtwins there are two of us! I am 28w2d. With a little Mr. Due Jan 8th.

My big guy is well very big! We had a scan at 27w6d and he was measuring at 30w all over. My fluid is also high in the 95th percentile so also high. They can't find any reason for it and therefore my doc is happy although wants me back in 3 weeks to keep track of the fluid particularly. In also small, short and not very wide at all, so the docs biggest point when I was questioning him about what were the risks, he said for now just my comfort level!

He did clear me to fly at 32 weeks as long as I stay as I am. I need to leave where I am currently staying to deliver in another country. So glad that things are moving forward well.
  • ::waves hand:: I'm here!  28 weeks tomorrow so I suppose technically I'm crashing the party a day early.  Glad your babies are doing so well, @blessedwtwins!  And yay for a wonderful shower of love :)

    EDD 01/12/16 - 1 girl

Had my 28-week checkup today.  Doc is happy with everything (my weight and BP and belly measurement, Yoda's heartbeat and movements) so naturally I came home and had a piece of cake :)  Still crazy tired, and even the maternity pillow that was a godsend in my 1st pregnancy is not helping. :(  Allergies finally calmed down just in time for me to pick up the cold that DD1 brought home from daycare...fun times!  And it is still crazy hot here in So Cal.  I am OVER this heat.  My friends back East are complaining that they have snow already.  And a pregnant friend of mine here was like, I just want to dive into a pile of snow!  But my complaints are pretty minor, in the grand scheme.  I am grateful to have had a healthy and mostly easy pregnancy thus far, and allergies and colds and such are nuisances but nothing worrisome.

  • Me too, me too!! 28+1, EDD 1/10/2016 with one boy :D it still makes me so happy to say that! Other than graduating to 3rd Tri, not much else to report. I'm enjoying little Z practicing his womb-fu every day, and even noticing he's on a schedule with his hiccups! He usually gets them around 730 in the AM, and about 530 at night.

My appointment schedule got thrown off in the beginning by switching OB's, so my first 3rd Tri appointment isn't until next Friday. But, we are going to have a 3D/4D ultrasound done next Monday which I'm beyond excited about!

DH won't let me buy anything until after the shower, so I'm just settling for being able to paint for now. 3 weeks seems like such a long time to wait to finish nesting!

It sounds like everyone is doing well, I can't wait until we can all exchange birth stories :)

  • Had a really weird day yesterday kept getting strange dizzy spells. Then last night every time I lay down I felt the world spin so I paced the room non stop until 430 am and then I finally went to sleep. Went to pharmacy to buy a toothbrush today but decided to ask the pharmacist about it and we took my blood pressure 85/60!! She was like um not surprised you where felling strange. I'm now waiting for my doc to call me back. Pharmacist gave me some rehydration salts just to bring it up. Any low blood pressure experience?!
  • @somewhereinafrica low BP can be aweful, I'm sorry! I have generally low numbers to start with (112/68) so I have to be uber careful not to get hypotensive. The sodium intake is honestly the best thing I've found to help me stay in normal range, especially when I'm drinking tons of water like right now. Even if it means being naughty and grabbing an order of fries ;)

@somewhereinafrica I hope you're feeling better soon! I generally have pretty low bp also (same range as you, @andimegie325, sometimes 90/60) but have never had the symptoms you're describing. I've always figured my low bp is why I crave salt so much.

In other news, got my TDAP yesterday morning. I forgot how much tetanus shots hurt. Owie. :(

  • @andimegie325 that's good advice on the sodium. Thinking about it I haven't had anything salty recently, and it is hot where I am so I'm still sweating and drinking lots. I'm also on the lower side normally but never like that. I have felt awful.

Went completely weird again today! I honestly felt drunk. Went in and they suggested I get my iron tested. So doing that tomorrow. I have also noticed that after I drink mint tea I have had these intense strange spells! So mint tea is out!

    What's TDAP?
  • TDAP is the Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis vaccine.  In the States at least, it is recommended that expectant mothers get it every pregnancy (to provide immunity to the fetus) and that fathers, caregivers, and anyone who will be around babies a lot should get it as well, every few years.  There have been outbreaks of pertussis (whooping cough) especially in California (which is where I live) because a lot of people have become "anti-vaccine" and have refused to get themselves and their children vaccinated.

  • @marnief Thanks for the info. It hasn't been brought up in Tz or Greece but I'm quite sure it might in UK but I had never heard of needing any vaccines while pregnant.

I'm not particularly filled with confidence over all vaccines but I have never refused one that is recommended nor would I with my baby. But I do also worry sometimes about them but feel the pros out way the cons by far.

I have one relative in England that hasn't vaccinated her children. Her daughter had whooping cough at 6 but was totally fine. I was just reading an article about the risk of a baby being exposed to unvaccinated people. Even more of a concern is once we are back in Arica most of our neighbors I can imagine aren't vaccinated. I will have to read more about the risks of this.
  • Ok sorry I'm all over this board this week! But I have many updates and questions! Ha

So I just got my blood test results back and I'm pretty badly anemic! My iron, hemoglobin and two other values I have no idea what they mean but all are very low. Meaning my dizzy spells now have an explanation!

I'm kind of glad it is something and not just one of those things as it was actually getting me pretty upset having this drunk and dizzy feeling come over me. Although I'm not happy that it's is that way but glad it's something I can fix, make sense?

So I'm being put on big time iron tablets! I was told it may take a month to actually take effect so might still have some funny turns.
  • Glad you got an answer, @somewhereinafrica ! Did they also give you a list of iron-rich foods to eat? Good luck and hope you are feeling much better soon. :)
