Heparin users

I started heparin yesterday, and I've noticed 2 large bruises. I don't rember getting them with Heparin as much as I did with Lovenox. Are you getting bruises too? It's been 2 years since I've done an injection, so I can't remember what happened.

    I get very bad bruises from Heparin, worse than Lovenox. What I find makes a difference is taking the time to firmly press on the injection site immediately after for at least 3 or 4 minutes. If I don't, and rush it, the bruise is waaaaay worse.

    I'm on lovenox, do not sure about heparin yet (will switch to that at 36 wks). Try icing your injection site before you clean and stick - I do for 1-2 minutes. It helps to freeze up the surface capillaries and keeps bruising to a minimum!
