Clearblue Test Recall?

Hello all,

I was hoping to pick up some Clearblue Advanced Digital tests with the weeks estimator. Since I can't see my Dr. for a month I was hoping to track the progression.

I went out and couldn't find any in a few stores. Finally I found a box but when I tried to buy it they said it was flagged to come off the shelf and wouldn't sell it to me.

Does anyone know if there is some kind of recall for them?

Re: Clearblue Test Recall?

  • On other forums I've seen this - I think the recall is regarding the weeks indicator which isn't "accurate".
It's supposed to be how many weeks since ovulation/conception but gets confused with weeks pregnant etc.
From what I understand it's a packaging thing and not an accuracy thing.

  • Yup, like @cattucchino said, they've been recalled because of the packaging/advertising being "confusing".

I will say, though, from personal experience -- using them to track progression is not a good idea. :\ I tried that because I still had a whole box of 'em, and when the last one didn't progress when I thought it should've (and my hCG levels are very high for a singleton pregnancy!!), I gave myself a panic attack and ended up having to go beg the doc for another beta draw because I became convinced I was miscarrying again.

Another lady I know (now 25wks along with a perfectly healthy baby girl) saw hers go *backwards* -- it went from 1-2wks to 2-3wks back to 1-2wks! And her pregnancy was just fine.

So, though I'll probably use 'em if they're back on the shelves when I go for kid #3, I definitely recommend not using them to verify progression!!

Yep, for some reason people are stupid and don't read the instructions where it says add 2 weeks to what the screen says and that's how far pregnant you actually are. They're redoing the packaging to make it clearer without reading the instructions, but until then, they don't have them available. I was hunting for them too and was upset I haven't found them.
  • Thank you all for the responses, hearing your responses makes me think that it might be a blessing in disguise so I don't obsess over little sticks.

It is too bad about the "confusing" packaging, seems pretty clear to me.
