10 week old

Hello,
My daughter is 10 weeks old today and she sleeps an hr at a time a night
I go back to work November 2 and I have tried everything
We've tried to add cereals to her bottle at two different instances in her life. (Most recently at 9 weeks to try and help her sleep at night). She throws it up within an hour of eating.
She tosses and turns all night and let's out these little whimpers
The pediatrician says she has reflux and there's nothing much that can be done
But I need to get some sleep and I need to get on a schedule before I go back to work. My husband works midnights so I'm alone on this.
Please help

Re: 10 week old

  • Has your doctor given your baby medication for the reflux? My first son was given some medication and it helped. And does your baby lay flat to sleep? That can be very uncomfortable for a baby with reflux. Have you tried the rock n play? Good luck!

  • My daughter has reflux and her doctor put her on Zantac. It has made a huge difference. Before she would scream and arch her back when feeding and spit up a ton followed by screaming. The Zantac makes her more comfortable, so no more screaming. She sleeps better since starting medicine. We also have one side of her crib slightly elevated to help with the reflux.

  • My DD is also 10 weeks. She's always been a great sleeper, but has recently been sleeping 9 hours, wake to eat, then another 3-4 hours. First, does your LO have her days and nights mixed up? Does she eat every hour during the day? If so, she might just need to eat every hour until her stomach can hold more. Otherwise, reflux can definitely be the problem. I noticed my DD's reflux seemed worse at night (idk why?). I've started holding her upright for about an hour after feedings (recommended 15-30 mins, but I hold her longer), elevated her crib on one side, burp her after every feeding, and have changed my diet. All of that combined seems to have done the trick (FX!!!). I think that's why she's sleeping so much better now.
  • Is she getting enough feedings during the day? How often does she eat? You might need to move feedings closer together for a bit. Is she actually hungry or crying for another reason maybe?
  • Did the pedi recommend cereal for LOs reflux?? If not I wouldnt give that to her just to try to get her to sleep. Thats an old wives tale people just thought it correlated to bellies being full so longer sleep. If it isnt something the pedi suggested then it can be hard on their digestive system and could do more harm than good.
