3rd Trimester

no stretch marks=body capable and ready?

The only stretch marks I have so far are from when my hips suddenly spread at 7 weeks, so I'm taking that as a good sign that my body is capable of and ready for this

i'm not trying to flame the person who posted this, but WTF does it mean?

because if stretch marks signify the body not being capable or ready, this baby is gonna have to be cut out.  i am a walking stretch mark!!!

i thought stretch marks had to do with genetics and skin type.

Re: no stretch marks=body capable and ready?

  • they do have to do with genetics and skin type. the person that wrote this is a fvcking moron.

    Your right.

  • That statement makes no sense. I'm like you, this baby will never come if that's the case!
  • HA!  but apparently her hips aren't ready to take it.  and if her philosophy means anything, then my boobs aren't capable or ready since they've got  my only marks so far.  does this mean I should bottle feed?!  crap.
  • thanks rease, for saying what i was thinking.  :)

  • I agree with Reese that it is based on genetic make-up. I dont' have any.
  • How far along was the OP? Because she might be in for a surprise...my stretch marks didnt show up until 34 weeks and now I've got them everywhere...
  • haha I can't even respond to this...

     ::head hits desk::

  • Well, than awesome for me b/c I don't have any yet. ::knock on wood::

  • Uhhhh...yeah. My body is incapable and wholly unprepared then.

  • I saw that post too, but I decided to let it go. You are obviously right.
  • I thought the OP was trying to say that she knows, without a doubt, that her hips spread in response to getting pg, and therefore she has confidence in her body being ready...that the stretch marks were just physical evidence for her of her hips spreading.

I don't have any stretch marks (yet) either, and I didn't interpret her statement to mean that she thinks I won't be capable... who the heck knows whether I'll be capabale; stretch marks has little to do with it!

  • I would have to say stretch marks have more to do with skin type, rather than genetics, based on my personal experience.? I am the ONLY woman in my family that did not get stretch marks while pregnant.? I was 115 lbs when I got pregnant and my belly was huge, but surprisingly, no marks!??
  • you are right, maybe she was referring to the hips spreading.  that makes a little more sense, but um....not that much.  :)

Alright, it was poorly worded, but yes, that's what I was getting at.  My mom has wide hips and had easy deliveries (as I said in the OP), and I also have wide hips and know they've gotten even wider since getting pregnant, so I'm taking that as a good sign.  How moronic of me.  Confused
