Desperation...advice? Please no negativity

edited October 2015 in October 2015 Moms
Soo Thursday night I started having really bad cramps. Im 39 weeks so I thought maybe they were contractions so I fought it out until it became too much. Went to my birth center Friday and they said I had an infection. Gave me meds and sent me home. Well I've been taking the medication and I'm not getting any relief from the cramping. It doesn't matter if I change positions. Ive taken a muscle relaxer which only helps to put me to sleep and then I wake up in agonizing pain. Ive tried tea and a warm bath and absolutely nothing is helping. Ive been laying here, rocking myself in tears. I feel it all in the bottom of my belly and up my back. That makes 4 days with this pain and 5 doses of this med and I keep waiting for relief thats just not coming. Its not even easing up and at this point I don't know what to do. I dont wanna go back and be sent home again citing theres nothing they can do. Im worried if this is the infection like i guess they think it is and its causing me this much pain what it could be doing to the baby and his health. I'm tempted to take castor oil but I don't wanna jeopardize my baby and as awful as I feel already I dont think I can stand the added discomfort anyway. But im desperate and its like no one is listening to me.

  • I would go back and tell them you still have no relief and you are concerned about the baby, are you still feeling movement from LO? I would be going back personally.

  • Go back to Dr or hospital!
  • Could you be in labor? I'd go by the ER and get a second opinion instead of returning to the birth center.
  • It could be something wrong, I recommend you either go back to the birthing center or go to the ER at the hospital.
  • I would go to the hospital, there's no need for you to be in this kind of pain and worrying. I hope all is well, please let us know!!
  • I understand your desperation. I almost talked myself into castor oil when my midwife suggested it. I even bought some. But the risk isn't worth it to me, because my first baby had her first poop as I was pushing and that was scary enough even though I didn't cause it. You very well could be in real labor, please take that desperation and go to an ER. You should not be in pain as you've described for this long.
  • Hopefully you have gone to the ER by now. Labor is going to be tough if this is not it. You should be getting much needed rest at this point, not struggling through more agonizing pain. You go in and demand they do something to help you. I'm so sorry you feel this way and are questioning yourself at this point. You stay strong and get the help you need to feel better. Don't let them bully you into thinking you should suffer through it. Hope you feel better soon.
  • Go to ER. You can always be induced you are past 39 weeks. Good luck and trust your instincts.
  • If it is an infection, it might better for baby to wait to be born until the infection has cleared. I would ask my midwife about that, probably depends on the type of infection. I would certainly go back after being in that much pain after 5 days of antibiotics. Hope you are doing better!
