How many IVF Procedures in a year?

how many ivf procedures do you think a person can go through in a year? I'm going back and forth trying to figure out if a shared succes/risk program or single cycle program makes most sense. I can only participate in the shared cycle for a year as I'll age out next November at 39. I'm trying to understand realistically how many ivf procedures my body can handle. Any insight from you ladies past and present would be great.

Re: How many IVF Procedures in a year?

  • This is probably a question best suited for your doctor as they know your health history and they known their own protocol.
Some clinics allow you to go back to back with transfers while others may require a cycle break in between to allow your body to rest.
There is also the small risk that you may get a bfp but lose it shortly after (we lost our twins at around 6 weeks) and then you'll need your body to reset before being able to proceed.
I know that's not a lot of help for you to make a decision on, but there are so many factors you'll have to take into consideration before deciding. Good luck on your journey, I hope it's a short one!

  • I only needed two implants. But I guess you could technically have 10 in a year including the retrieval.
  • Everyone is different of course but I've already done 2 IVFs but no sucess. I've had two retrievals but never a transfer. Good luck to you.
TTC for Baby #1 for 3 years. After 2 failed IUI's & IVFs, God blessed us with our miracle :).  FET 12/17/15 (transferred 2 embryos at 5days). First Beta 12/29/15 = 354. Second Beta 12/31/15 = 694. Third Beta 1/7/16 = 6,695.  Finally heard his heartbeat (126)  on 1/14/16 @ our 1st US.  2nd US on 1/21/16, HR was 159.  The most beautiful sound ever :)
