Would you be weary if someone gave your child a baked good over candy?
Since I'll probably be home just handing candy out, I wanted to make these adorable little pumpkin rice crispy things instead.
However, if they are just going to get tossed because parents will think it's weird than I'll forgo them!
What would you think?
Re: Mom's with Trick or Treaters
I'll probably stick with the neighbors I know, though it's only a handful.
I just love festive goodies!
Which is crazy because I LOVE bake sales!! And I don't know who madd those goodies but I buy and eat them....
@Gapeach83 great point regarding the allergies!! So true!
Edit because words
If you want to avoid candy, go for little toys like squishy eyeballs or fake vampire teeth. There's a lady on our route who last year had a cauldron filled with squishy brains and frogs and a smoke machine, and thats all the kiddo has been talking about for weeks now (we live off the town common, on the route taken by the annual Horrible's Parade so we get loads of trick or treaters and the neighbourhood goes all-out). Plus its allergy friendly which is pretty important (check out the teal pumpkin project).
Some companies wrap the little boxes and some don't.. If it was in a sealed wrapper then I would be ok but if not then I would pitch it
There are 2 documented cases of people giving their OWN children poisoned candy to make them sick but not giving it to anyone else. They first lied and said their kids got it trick or treating but later confessed.
Probably an UO - but I feel like while it is a scary world I don't think we need to fuel the panic by over checking everything. I hate seeing police departments and hospitals scanning candy for razor blades on Halloween because 1- there has never been a razor blade found in Halloween candy and 2- can't we just let kids have some fun without making them paranoid of everything?!
Sure I look over my daughter's stuff before she eats it just to make sure it's not open and mostly to make sure it's candy I don't mind her having. But I don't go crazy and I don't let her know because I want her to have fun.
When to comes to baked goods, if it was from a neighbor we knew- and we know most of them- I would be ok. Otherwise I would toss it.
They would be eaten. They have your name, address, phone number etc. So they can track you lol. So knowing all that they are sure you wouldn't poison them. Hell they even have your blood type.
