my mother in law just cooked a roast dinner and halfway through a big potato I noticed it was green instead if clear white. I am 25 weeksppregnant and am freaking out!
You're good some potatoes will have green in them if they weren't fully ripe. I ate a big piece of toast and peanut butter the other day and didn't see the mold all over the bread until the very end. Both baby and I are fine and enjoyed the extra dose of penicillin.
Were they moldy? Or just stored in a sunny spot so they went green? Obviosly either way it's not ideal, but in my non medical oppinion, Unless you start to feel sick I wouldn't stress too much. It just might make you gassy!! X_X
I'm sure you will be fine however green in a potato near the surface of the potato does not mean it is not ripe - it is from over exposure to the sun and the green part is actually toxic. I doubt you ate the actual green part and from what I have read the rest of the potato is usually fine. Just call your doctor and let them know but unless you are sick, I can't imagine they will do much.
Does anyone know if the green in spaghetti squash is also bad (thin layer right under the skin)? Can't seem to find anything on Google University other than that the squash is under ripe.
I can't find any reason why green on spaghetti squash is bad for you. I'm guessing if it doesn't come up right away (like with potatoes) it's not an issue. This one post talks about cooking under ripe spaghetti squash:
