Sulcus Tear

Hi, I'm from September board but looking to see if anyone has similar experience. Gave birth to baby girl on 9/12 :) It was after 4 day induction and forceps assisted. In addition to a second degree tear I also got a sulcus (internal) tear :(( They had trouble stopping bleeding afterward. .. Anyone have any experience with this type of tear and the recovery time? Thanks!

Re: Sulcus Tear

  • It took my sulcus tear four weeks to heal and eight weeks for it to not hurt. However still sore after sex. Sorry if it's TMI.

  • Thank you!! That gives me hope!
  • @talisha1992 .. How long was it before you could resume activities like walking normally? I'm 4 weeks pp and still can't be active due to soreness (by end of day all I can do is sit). This recovery has been awful and I'm looking for some hope an end is in sight...
  • Hmm walking normally was around 6 weeks I could barely get down the end of my street before then. And sitting on the toilet bending over coughing was so painful. I started to have a soak in the bath when LO slept which sometimes only lasted a few minutes plus I lived on ibuprofen for the swelling. I also tore inside up my v. I'm now 10wk pp and it's still sore during sex if rubbed on sorry for the TMI speak to ur gp for pain relief. Sorry I've only just seen your post.
  • Also try not to over do it. I know walking isn't much but know your limits because I know the pain is sometimes unbearable. This is something they definitely leave out of the ante natal classes lol
