    Week/Baby Size: 17/Onion

Symptoms: Severe irritability and unrealistic food cravings? (Today is birthday cake)

Rants/Raves/Stories: I'm completely in love with goat cheese and salsa right now! Seriously, it's becoming an issue with my fiancé..

Upcoming Appointments: First appointment at all on Tuesday. So glad I finally found a Dr!!!

Questions: What parenting methods are you researching?

GTKY: Your best Halloween costume ever: I went as Bo from Lost Girl and was surprised how many people caught it! A few people thought I was Laura Croft from Tomb Raider though >.>

  • Week/Baby Size: 14/ lemon

Symptoms: Still with all of the vomiting/nausea and the fatigue. I've recently added increased irritability from everyone saying that the vomiting should be done by now. Thank you, I'm well aware of that.

Rants/Raves/Stories: my mother in law rubbed my belly today. There is literally nothing there. I've lost 16 lbs on an already small frame. I get that she's just exited, but please don't poke the bear. I'm just extra stabby lately but it reaalllly annoyed me. Just because a woman is pregnant doesn't mean that she automatically loses her personal space.

Upcoming Appointments: I have a follow up ultrasound with the genetic specialist on 10/26.

    Questions: nope.

GTKY: Your best Halloween costume ever: when I was in kindergarten my mom dressed me up as gum. I wore all bubblegum pink clothes and a pink hate with a sneaker glued to it. It was pretty funny.

Omg if anyone tries to touch my stomach they get slapped. Period. Also, I'm totally in love with this Halloween costume idea!!!
  • Week/Baby Size: 14 weeks/Lemon... Hello 2nd Trimester!!!

Symptoms: This past week I've been more emotional than usual. Had to put my nephew on timeout and cried because he wouldn't apologize... Lord....

Rants/Raves/Stories: Today I saw one of my friends for the first time since her husband (best friends with my husband) told her that we were expecting... She didn't just rub my belly... She wiggled it... Which is so much worse!

Upcoming Appointments: 16 week appt on 11/2

    Questions: So many I can't remember ;)

GTKY: Your best Halloween costume ever: Probably a tie between a bag of leaves (I actually sewed a trash bag into a dress... It was epic) and a barrel of monkeys. I've always been one to make my own costumes.
  • Week/Baby Size: 16/avocado

    Symptoms: sore abs, random irritability

Rants/Raves/Stories: Just give up abs! Sigh. I hung out in this achy stage where your abs are still trying to keep everything in for 2-3 months with DD. That time was more uncomfortable than the last few weeks. I'm hoping they give up and just let the bump go sooner this time around.

Upcoming Appointments: 11/12 for the anatomy scan and 20 week appt (will be 19w5)

    Questions: none

GTKY: Your best Halloween costume ever: DH and I went as Jazzercize Barbie and Malibou Ken in college - my dorm floor had a costume box that included pastel yellow men's pants and a rocking 80's swimsuit that came up over the hipbones :) ill have to see if I can find a picture - I'm afraid I'm not FB friends with the gal who had posted them now... Hmm...

  • Week/Baby Size: 16

    Symptoms: nothing

Rants/Raves/Stories: confirmed the sex today and it's a boy! I booked an appointment because the tech at MFM told me it was a boy at 12 weeks but was only 80% confident and I couldn't wait for 7 weeks to find out.

Upcoming Appointments: MFM and regular OB in 4 more weeks

    Questions:

GTKY: Your best Halloween costume ever: don't have one. Wasn't allowed to celebrate Halloween as a child because my parents were Holiness preachers. I was going to be Harley Quinn this year but opted not to.

    Week/baby size: 12 weeks/plum

Symptoms: not sure if it's morning sickness or leftover food poisoning but I'm pretty queasy still. Constipated from the Zofran the ER gave me for the food poisoning *le sigh*

Rants/raves/stories: it truly sucks having the nose of a hound with massive food adversions working in a restaurant

Upcoming appts: Oct 20th I have my trisonomy blood screening

Questions: when did you mommies register for items and what places?

GTKY: I'm highly UNcreative so I think my best Halloween costume was when I was 5 and I was a red M&M haha

Edit because I can't adult right now.
  • @kalanieileen with DD we only registered at Target to make returns etc easier . They have a policy where your registry counts as a gift receipt. Also, Target is 5 minutes away and the nearest BrU is 45+ minutes. :) We had a few things we couldn't get there that we wanted (bath sponge instead of a tub and certain bibs) so we just bought those. I have lots of friends who do Target and then Amazon if they want cloth diapers or a specific themed bedding set etc.

As for timing, I think started researching around this time (15-20w) because I knew I wanted a gender neutral nursery (safari) and added both genders of certain things (hats/bows, blankets etc). Then when we found out she was a girl I deleted the boy options. I think I made it public around 24 weeks because that was when Target did their big baby sale and MIL (wisely) wanted to take advantage. My showers were around 30-34 weeks so the rest of the family was told it existed when the invitations went out. I think they usually do it in late Jan/early Feb. if that helps you.

  • Adding a symptom- everything I eat tastes sour. Not sour like spoiled, but sour like a lemon.
  • @kalanieileen we started on our around 12 weeks because my baby shower back home is really early. But we did target, buy buy baby and baby r us

    Week/Baby Size: 12/ Plum - Can't believe we're here!

    Symptoms: Constant hunger, drowsiness, dehydrated.

Rants/Raves/Stories: I had steak for the first time since getting pregnant and as good as it was, it just wasn't the same eating it cooked medium. Guess that's why I haven't been craving beef at all. I'm ooking forward to eating steak rare next year :P

Upcoming Appointments: Oct 31st (1st visit in the 2nd trimester)

Questions: Anyone still hiding the pregnancy? I'm waiting 2-3 more weeks till we announce to family in-person. Also are any of you keeping the gender a secret to your family and friends so you can get gender-neutral gifts? I'm considering it but I doubt DH could hold off from sharing.

GTKY: Your best Halloween costume ever: Female ringmaster costome in red white n black with a red feather mask covering my eyes n nose. Ate fresh oysters and drank wine with the mask the whole time at dinner :)
  • @kimey1 we told everyone DD was a girl but registered very gender neutral bordering on "boy" especially for the big items. The only difinitively girly things we got were clothes (some of which I returned and replaced with more gender neutral options) and some keepsake type stuff (Christmas ornaments, handmade quilts from Great Grandmas, etc).

I also shared some projects I was making for her (month stickers, knitted hat etc) on FB in my excitement with the added benefit of people getting to see the colors I liked - yellow/grey/turquoise instead of pinks/purples or cheetah print so we didn't get much "girly girl" or "diva child". It probably helped that I'm very much a jeans and a tee-shirt girl myself. :)

We kinda are. For my baby shower back home we are going to tell them the sex of the baby at the end of the shower. Everything we registered for is gender neutral and once we tell our families we might update the list.
