I just wanted to share what has happened so far...which has been a bit odd. I've been spotting since 5 1/2 weeks. I didn't want to go to the OB and get an ultrasound, because I was afraid it was too early to see a baby, and I didn't want the drama of seeing a sac with no baby. So I got some betas at my family doctors. The first was a bit under 15,000 (at 6 weeks 2 days) and then 48 hours later, the next beta was only 17,000 something. My doubling rate was almost 8 days... WAY over what seems like a viable pregnancy. So I did go to the OB today at 6 weeks, 6 days to get an ultrasound. There was a baby, measuring 2 days behind with a heart rate of only 122. The OB office was very happy to see it was not ectopic, as they suspected. I was stunned to see a baby, but was warned that this pregnancy is threatened.
I did some google searching *gasp* and only found stories of slow rising betas that ended in miscarriage.
So I'm not sure what to feel or think. I don't want to count on a baby that might not arrive. I know this is not what everyone would think is right, but I'm trying to remain detached until the 12 week ultrasound when baby hopefully has a strong heart rate.
I did decide to tell a few friends and my mom so that I'd have some people to talk to if this pregnancy doesn't work out.
Thanks for reading!
Re: Slow rising HCG, but saw heartbeat
I'm sorry you're going through this. My thoughts are with you and hoping for the best.
I'm just going to try my best to not think about this all the time.
