My 5 month old gets up maybe 2-3 times a night to eat still, it's exhausting but I think it's more of a habit now. Haven't put him on solids yet will try when he's 6 months.
My almost 5 month old will do anything from sleeping through the night to waking twice to eat. We have not yet started solids. While I'm not sure he needs to eat, it is working for both of us at this point.
Is your baby actively eating or just pacifying? Have you tried just rocking or other non-feeding calming measures?
I'd say if it's working for both of you just roll with it. Otherwise, maybe try a dream feed right before you go to bed to get yourself more consecutive hours of sleep.
My baby will be 5 months in 3 days and we've started solids as well, but he still wakes up at least once in the middle of the night to feed. It's tiring but they'll grow out of it soon enough!
Mine is 5 months and goes to bed at 730, wakes at 1030 (no feed), and again at 1 and 3/330. Trying to work on it and wean off at least the 1:00 feeding, like you said, I think it's more habit than hunger
My 5 and a half month old usually wakes up once for a feed, sometimes twice. I believe this is normal for a while yet. She has solids every second day but only for taste. Looking forward to her sleeping through the night. She has done so a handful of times but not recently.
Research infant sleep training... Took us about 3 weeks to master but my almost 5 month old has been sleeping through the night (8-10 hour straight) without waking or feeding.
My 6 month old wakes up once to nurse and usually falls right back asleep. Sometimes I do think she wakes up out of habit, but hopefully soon she will sleep through the night with starting solids.
My 5.5 month old goes to bed by 7lm the latest and wakes up around 4-5am to chug 6 ounces. He goes back to bed after 15 minutes and sleeps until around 6:45am. We have done sleep training with him.
My almost 6 month old usually goes to sleep around 7. He'll wake up to eat again around midnight, then 3ish, 5ish, then he'll get up for an hour or so around 7 then usually go back down for another hour or so around 8. He's EBF and during the day eats every two hours. He's also a cat napper...naps last 30 minutes. I've been slowly introducing solids the last few weeks hoping it may help. So far not really...he did have an hour and a two hour nap in the same day this past week! I'm hoping with age and more solids this will get better!! He did have a week or so this summer of a 6 or 7 hour stretch at night, but that hasn't happened in awhile...
My little man is 5 1/2 months and sleeps through the night most of the time he occasionally wakes up but I can usually get him back to sleep. If he is really fussy I give him a couple ounces, not a full feeding and he goes right back to sleep. He's been like that since about 10 weeks.
My daughter is 6 months old today & still wakes up around 12/1am for a bottle and usually around 330/4am for her early morning feeding. She's a formula fed baby only, but I think it's still pretty normal to wake up at least once a night for babies this young. They usually don't start really sleeping through the night until later, like 8-9months (from what I've read/heard from other Moms). To the moms who's babies sleep through the night, I'm so envious lol
Ugh I'm envious too. My baby will be 6 months in 2 weeks and still wakes up twice to nurse. At 1ish and 5ish =( my other daughter at 8weeks was sleeping through the night. I can't wait until this baby does it.
Is it possible he/she is still hungry and didn't get enough during the day? I give my son extra ounces before bed and he usually sleeps through the night from about 9pm-8:30am.
My newly sleep-trained 5 and a half month old seems to always wake up at 6am for a feed and then she goes back to sleep for a couple more hours. (Which is GREAT as far as I'm concerned.) She sometimes wakes up earlier- around 3-4- but I do not go to her and she only cries for a few minutes at the most.
As recently as a couple of weeks ago she was waking up for a feeding about every 90 mins or so!!!!!! That was my reality for so long. This feels so luxurious. Life is good post sleep-training!
I got really good advice from the author of Baby411 Dr. Ari Brown. She said that a 5 month old can go 9 hours without nursing at night. So if I feed my baby at 7:30pm (which I do) then I don't need to feed her again until after 4:30. So that's what I do. I check the time when she cries out and if it's before 4:30 I let her go back to sleep and if it's after I go in and feed her then put her back to bed. That advice has worked beautifully!
Starting solids may be helping, but honestly it didn't make a difference at first until we also did sleep training.

I'm jealous of you with kids sleeping through the night, or even for those longer than 2-3 hour stretches.
Hopefully you can join us soon. I'm only on week 2 of it and before I was up almost every hour. I never thought I'd see this day. If it can happen to me and my baby who needed to be nursed back to sleep all. night. long. It can happen to anyone!
