Making time for me!

I know I'm probably not the only one on here that doesn't have a lot of me time. I feel my tank is running on empty so I need to do something about it. I thought we could celebrate the things we are doing for ourselves so we can continue to keep giving (and not snap someone's head off).

Taking a bath with a glass of wine and my kindle or bumping. I also read on my lunch break at work. Books have always been my escape.

Baby is asleep, and I'm on the bed with my tablet, Bumping! Hoping to get in an episode of Call the Midwife, but usually Bumping takes me too long ;-)

I like to read on my lunch breaks and on my pump breaks at work. I also listen to loud fun music when I'm in the car and at night, after both kids and DH have gone to bed I watch shows on my DVR and drink wine and eat ice cream (if I'm not too tired). I don't have a lot of free time with working full time and having 2 kids but the little breaks though out the day are wonderful and definitely needed!

The new bottles arrived yesterday so I got out of the house tonight so DH could give them a try. Moderate success with the bottle so I'm optimistic. I went and picked up BBQ (by myself) for dinner so I didn't have to cook dinner. Double win!!!

I wake up 15 min early so I can eat breakfast in peace and catch up on the news. If I'm really motivated, I'll even do a little yoga and meditate for 5 min. It's so much nicer than being woken up by crying or a 3 year old with diarrhea. I also have so much more patience if I get 15 min alone.

It's an interesting set up for sure, and she's still playing with the nipple some, but DH said she was doing great at it before I got home. We'll keep practicing. She even held the bottle a couple of times by herself. So cute.

@lovethatcolosun thanks!! I'll check it out. I think we aren't trying hard enough. Every once in a while.. Not even once a week now. I really should just try a bottle every time she eats but I think shes like your boob is right here.. Why do I want this?! Lol. But she won't drink from it from my fiancé either..

I take a commuter train to work every day - but that means I get 50 minutes each way of blissful alone time .... well, alone time with hundreds of strangers. But you know what I mean. I put on my headphones and listen to my podcasts!

And I started working from home one day a week so I can be in my house alone and get a few chores done.

Also, got my first post-baby haircut this week!

I agree that my commute is actually good alone time. I do sneak off once a week for something fun by myself like to go run errands, go shopping or to get a gel polish mani - love that stuff. I feel like I really have my shit together when my nails are perfect for 2 weeks at a time. Ha!

Going to the gym daily is my escape. I am able to drop the girls off in the gym daycare and work out, sauna and shower. It's awesome! I also got a hair cut and highlight recently. That really made me feel better about my post baby self.

I have a massage scheduled tomorrow afternoon. One hour of quiet relaxation <:-P On a more regular note, showers are my only alone time right now.

I can't do it everyday like you are supposed to, but i've been doing a program called "mindfulness based cognitive therapy" through a handbook at home. It involves meditating and has been shown to help symptoms of fibro. Here's hoping it works!

Mindfulness is something that I find very difficult, but also try to get some every day. It was much easier when I didn't have a baby, but I try to at least keep the spirit of it alive
