Do you think doc might consider it?

So with DD I would have contractions and they would be strong and get closer. At one point I was 3-5 min for 24 hours straight, ranking about a 6 on pain scale. I went in and there was no progression so I was sent home. This kept up for days. We were sent home 2 more times. Then finally one night I declared we were going in and I was not leaving without her. They were preparing to discharge me yet again for not progressing, and then my water broke. Within 3 hours I went from 2-10 and had her after 10 min of pushing.

Well last night the contractions came, and just like with DD, nothing from them. This time they stopped though. I'm wondering if I start up again if I should try to convince doc to just break my water to get it over with, since my body seems to not do any dilation without that. (Not attempting to start contractions with it, only want it done after I've had them consistently for over an hour.) I just want to move things along here, because I don't think I can take the contractions as long as I did with DD. It's much harder with a 2 yr old following you around saying "You okay?" every ten seconds lol.

Re: Do you think doc might consider it?

  • Have you considered a membrane sweep? I had a similar experience when I had my DD, and I went in to the doctor on the morning of the second full day of contractions + stalling, and my OB swept my membranes. I was able to go home, take a bath, and pack, and then we were headed to the hospital with really strong contractions, a bulging bag of water, and I was already at a 7 (not that it would make you dilate). It might be worth talking about with your OB!
