Pregnancy = Super Tired Future Mama

I was in a wedding on Saturday, and I am STILL recuperating from it. I took a 2 hour nap on Sunday, went to bed early Sunday night and last night. I came to work yawning today. I feel like an old lady! What is taking it's toll on you ladies nowadays? And just walking up the steps totally counts because that it exhausting!

Re: Pregnancy = Super Tired Future Mama

  • I am right there with you, except I'm not really doing anything to make me tired! I actually came to the app to see if other mamas were tired too, because I keep hearing how the second tri is blissful and full of energy. Not the case for me - I can hardly make it through work! Glad to hear we're in it together.

  • My toddler exhausts me. Especially now that he's starting to drop his nap. Ahhh!

I also can't wait until I can walk up my stairs without huffing & puffing!

  • Everything is exhausting. I've been student teaching which is really tiring. I've been home sick the last two days, but can't really rest because my youngest is home sick too.

  • Tired everyday except I don't feel like I do anything. I have a good night sleep of 7 hours and after have breakfast, I want to fall asleep again. And after lunch and dinner, too. What's happening to me? I'm a graduate student and have classes for two nights every week. Those two nights are really exhausting for me. And I have a hard time finishing my school assignments because I'm so so so tired.
  • I'm good if I can just get through two hours of housework. I have a one year old that keeps me on my toes and at 20 weeks its too much sometimes
  • My cold is kicking my butt so everything is exhausting in my opinion. I get out of breath switching the laundry
  • I'm not so much exhausted throughout the day, but the being out of breath thing is getting the best of me. It's embarrassing to be winded after going up 1 flight of stairs! I've been congested for weeks and that exacerbates the labored breathing. Oh and that extra 20 lbs I'm carrying around lol.

  • I'm exhausted too and when I try to lay down at my desk at work my stomach is too uncomfortable being squeezed like that due to my gas pains :-/ Funnily enough my first trimester was easier than my second has been!
  • I feel fairly awake during the day, but hit a serious wall around 8PM every night. Sleeping has been a bit of a struggle which I think is the reason for my granny schedule. Anyone else having some pretty serious hip pain? It hurts just to roll over. I also find any time I finally decide to roll over I feel my bladder is full and am getting up to pee. Between the 3-4 bathroom trips, hip pain and mornings being darker, my mornings have been quite a struggle.

This is totally my life right now!  Every night around 8pm the exhaustion hits me like a brick.  I also have the crazy hip pain and am having to get up 4-5 times a night to use the restroom.

If you don't have one yet, buy an exercise/yoga ball. That thing has been a lifesaver for my hip/back pain!

  • I took a prenatal yoga class on Saturday.  It's Tuesday and I still hurt all over.  And I'm still exhausted from it!

I'm having hip pain all night, too. I have to switch sides at least every hour and it sucks. The Snoogle helped for a few weeks but now it's back.

Do you do certain exercises and/or movements on the ball or just sit on it?

yesterday I legit closed my office door and took a 15 minute nap with my head down on my desk as my break. Everything exausts me. but I would say showers are some of the most tiring. Once I get out I feel like I just finished an hour long zumba class

Showering kicks my ass every day. Heat and blood pressure change I suppose? I give myself a mental gold star every time I do it, and it must happen at least once a day to help soothe my aching breasts and hips. Oh the joys .

Showering does it for me too. I mentally high five myself on the days I manage to shower and get ready for the day -- aka blow-dry, little bit of makeup. Also, my toddlers are just exhausting. My son is always (in his affectionate way) wrestling his sister to the ground, or rolling on her or doing something to irritate her because he's 100% rough boy. She holds her ground well but would much rather hug him than wrestle him and gets upset easily so I spend most of my day refereeing. And no one wants to nap, ever, but me so that's a bit depressing. :((

Baby #3 due February. Dx with Spina Bifida Myelo  "good things are coming down the road, just don't stop walking"
  • Showering also gets me and has become an infrequent thing for me. No matter how quick and cool I try to make it, I end up lightheaded and often throw up. My MD suggested it might just be a trigger and might take some time for me to get over. Fun!
  • Ditto on showering. Between that and my dry itchy skin, I'm embarrassed to say I only shower every other day unless I do something strenuous. I've been feeling guilty for not working out... I'm just so tired and constantly out of breath doing normal stuff!! I don't want to even think about trying to run!!
  • Ummm...walking from the bed to the couch. :P But really, the three flights of stairs up to our apartment. On the plus side, it's built in cardio on days when I don't exercise and it'll help drop the baby weight fast when I have to carry two babies up and down!

I just threw up a little bit trying to imagine three flights of stairs with a baby carrier right now.

  • I am a dog walker. I walk a 13 mile average a day and then I nanny kids and drive them to and from sports and participate in practices. Everything is death to me right now.

For the stairs thing; one of my clients is due in November and they don't even have an elevator. How do you expect her to climb stairs immediately after giving birth? Isn't that ill advised? Do you guys not have elevators either? We live on the first floor with a porch (since I have a dog) it has immediate access outside and we can go upstairs through the lobby in the 3rd floor, with the elevator.
Maybe I'm just so used to this type of set up that I find it weird not to have elevators. What about the handicapped? A few of my friends are WW with no legs from an explosion, so that wouldn't work for me.
  • @thisusername totally unrelated to the topic at hand but I was a dog walker during my first year of grad school in DC and LOVED IT. One of the best jobs I ever had! Didn't pay much but the amount of exercise I got was incredible lol.

  • I went shopping yesterday (couple hours and Ross so some work involved) and got back at 4pm. I was EXHAUSTED for the rest of the day. I fell asleep on the couch and my son kept trying to wake me up. My husband and mom were playing with him but I don't think he's ever seen me sleep on the couch so he wanted to play with me.
  • Everything...shower, playing with my 2 year old, cleaning, walking up the stairs to my apartment, taking clothes off and putting them on. Just everything.
@thisusername - no elevator here either and what's even better is that I am having a c-section and get to walk up my stairs after having baby. I'm so not looking forward to that at all. I predict now, that unless I absolutely have to go somewhere, I won't be going for quite a while after baby is born.

I service silver spring mostly but have two clients in DC! I loooove it! Did you work on your own or with a company? I started on my own and work with Pets and Poets now.

The best part is when I go to a certain clients house, his pit named Daisy gets so excited and licks my bump every day. She always looks to my stomach for approval and not me, she's in love with this baby!

I just think that's so weird!!! I really thought it was illegal not to have an elevator or something. I did more research and it isn't , only in public places. But wow. How many floors do you have to climb? I mean even one step will suck regardless (my mom warned me of that, and after a minor surgery I was still dying to get up our one step-stoop.)

  • @thisusername I worked with a company, DogCentric, mostly in Bethesda and Chevy Chase. People thought I was crazy when I told them about the relationships you create with the dogs, but it's so true! There was one who was newly rescued and I was his first walker. He was still scared of his own family, so he would hide from me in his cage every day for a while, but I just sat with him and tried to coax him out and show him I wasn't going to hurt him. Eventually he came out of his cage, then would let me touch him, and by the time I left about a year later, we were playing fetch and taking long walks! It was so rewarding to be part of that, and the family was so thankful that I could help sort of rehabilitate their dog. They gave me a framed picture of him as a going away present :) Soo long story short I'm jealous that you still get to be a dog walker lol.

Umm what do they expect you to do for money if you're not working while you're able? Lol. Get those pity tips, girl!

I'll be there as long as I can! Most likely until early February. Although my doctor has me on a 20-pound restriction when I'm in my 3rd trimester! I'm on 30-pound right now. Funny, last night a guy got mad at me because I couldn't refill ice. Okay. You try carrying a baby inside you.

Honestly I'm going to be pretty sad when I get my bachelors and have to go to "real" work. Almost every dog I work with is a rescue. They all crack me up. I had a sick day the other day and my boss covered for me, I asked her to FaceTime the dogs with me. We all get lonely without each other!
So happy there's another walker in the board who understands!
