Two of my friends are pregnant.... One found out about 2 months ago (around 12 weeks) the sex by blood test and the other just found out today (at 13 weeks). Neither of them are high risk.
I did not hear about this with either of my daughters. I found out the old fashioned way at the 20 week anatomy scan.
I'll definitely ask my Dr about it at my next appointment but I don't want to get myself hyped up about it prematurely.
Does anyone know if this is a standard thing now?

Re: Sex revealing blood test?
There is a blood test available now, it has different names - harmony, panorama, verify21 - that is used to check for markers for genetic anomalies. It is usually offered to parents with a history/risk of genetic anomalies, and to mothers who are "advanced maternal age" but anyone can get it done, although insurance may not cover the test if you don't qualify (I think it's 150-200ish dollars? Prob about the same as the elective early sonogram). If the test is positive, be prepared to make a decision about amniocentesis. I am unsure the rate of false positives.
We always go with the real old fashioned way to find out - waiting until the baby is born
