June 2016 Moms

Intro and progesterone question

I'm very cautiously introducing myself. I have two beautiful girls (2.5 and 4) and had zero trouble with both pregnancies. We've been trying since January to get pregnant with #3 and have had 2 MCs this year; one in April and one in August. Here I am pregnant again and due June 20. I'm PRAYING this baby sticks. I can't imagine having another MC. My doctor put me on progesterone this time around and my question is: has anyone had success with it? TIA

What do you mean exactly? I had low progesterone so it kept my levels up where they were supposed to be, so I would say I had success with it..

  • I am also on progesterone due to low tests. The docs said it may or may not help, but it was definitely worth trying. I'm praying for you to carry this baby to term and a healthy and happy 9 months!
  • My question is whether or not you were able to go full term with progesterone supplements. My hcg at 4 weeks was 37 and progesterone was 32. The previous pregnancies didn't get past 20 for my progesterone .
  • I had a miscarriage in May, my doctor immediately put me on progesterone and wanted me to continue through the first trimester when I did get pregnant again.  I got pregnant my very next cycle and am now 18 weeks  I weaned off around 13 weeks and so far, so good. From what I've learned from my doctor, is that staying on past 13 weeks is not necessary at all- if thats what you mean by going full term on progesterone.
Good luck on your pregnangcy, hope its a sticky one!
  • Mine was low with all my prior pregnancies, but I lost the first two which had nothing to do with progesterone, but doing something about it wont hurt! I'm waiting to hear about mine this time around, I may be in the same boat. I believe my Siggy had the name of what my dr had me use.

  • Unfortunately people successful stories or unsuccesful stories will have no bearing on your own fertility because everyones body and pregnancys are different. I think statistically though, progesterone supplements have high success rate in the ladies that suffer from low progesterone
  • Ah now I see what you mean. As pp said, you only use it for the first trimester. I miscarried last time but not related to progesterone. Also, cattlebride is right, everyone's body and pregnancy is different so our experience doesn't mean yours will be the same.
  • Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it! I'm staying hopeful but have my moments of anxiety.
