Constipation?!?!

Ugh! I just need to go and I can't. I'm planning on calling my midwife tomorrow and check, but have any of you ever taken a fiber supplement?

Re: Constipation?!?!

  • I took colace. Perfectly safe.

  • I took generic fiber capsules.  Non-stimulant.  Safe and also comfortable.

  • Once I started feeling like eating again, I just ate a big salad for lunch every day. All that roughage really got me going, so to speak.
  • Try prunes or prune juice.
  • Apples, avocadoes and coffee do the trick for me. Prunes are supposed to be helpful too. Avoid persimmons!
  • I've had this issue as well. Drinking at least 68 oz a day of water has helped a lot but when it's not enough I've used Miralax. Miralax for me works in about 30 min.

  • Apple juice. And water helped me
  • I'm having the same problem, I'm trying ground flax seed and psyllium husk mixed in with yogurt. So far it helping, feeling a lot better!
  • Coconut oil did the trick for me!
  • Somebody on here told me pear juice and it works like a charm! I put psyllium husk powder in my smoothies and protein shakes ( like a heaping tablespoon of it) and it has made a huge difference too
  • Water and benefiber worked for me until I was able to stomach more high fiber foods.

  • I had constipation so bad earlier this week that I left work in the middle of the day.  Went home and had a bowl of bran cereal and a glass of prune juice and had success within an hour.  I'm trying to eat foods high in fiber (raspberries, whole grain bread, dried apricots/prunes) along with drinking a small glass of prune juice each morning and that's kept things moving.  I called the doc and she said Colace would be safe to take and if that didn't work Mirilax.  Haven't had to result to either.  And I hope it stays that way.
