I was gbs + for both of mine. With my first, there were no problems but we had to stay at the hospital a bit longer because of jaundice. With my daughter, she came so fast that they didn't have time to administer the minimum amount of antibiotic needed to protect baby, so they did keep us 48 hours and do a blood test. But she's totally fine, perfect actually!
Yeah a little I have heard some scary stories and also wondering if baby has to go to nicu or for special testing after arrival
As long as you follow your doc's instructions about when to get to the hospital, you will have done everything you can do. However, like a PP said, sometimes you can't get the antibiotics in time and they will monitor baby in the hospital. If you're super worried, talk to your doctor about it at your next appointment and most likely s/he will put your fears to rest. I did that with my first baby and he made me feel so much better about it.
Re: Given birth and group b strep?
Are you worried about it?
