Cozy, flat alternative to rock n play?

5w old loves sleeping in her rock and play- as soon as we put her in it, she went from sleeping 2.5-3 hours to sleeping 4.5-5.5 hours! I think it's bc it's cozier than her bassinet- but bc of the incline she slides down and the swaddle comes up, covering her mouth (no matter how tight or low we swaddle). Makes us nervous about her ability to breathe!

Any suggestions for cozy/smaller things like the rock n play, but without the incline?

  • My 4 week old sleeps very well in the lullyboo baby lounge, which my husband and I actually keep in the bed with us. It's not elevated off the ground like the RnP but it's super soft and cozy, easy to transport, and not on an incline.
  • I roll up a swaddle so it's hard and put at bottom of Rock play so mr daughter doesn't crunch down. Works very well!
  • No suggestions here, but be careful with the rock n play.  DS1 ended up in a helmet for plagiocephaly because he slept in it for the first couple of months at night.  Check out the one star reviews on Amazon.  I realize it won't happen to everyone who uses it, but if I can save one family the headache of a $5000 helmet it'll be worth it!!
  • @sokomo is the bottom strong enough that it could go on the floor next to the bed? Looks like it's good for travel too, and we are planning a trip next month so this could be a win-win!

@Dot30324 good idea! No idea why we didn't think of this before ha

@beth1ann heard about that too, thanks for flagging it. Someone on a prior board here said its a bigger problem with older rnp models?
  • I'm in the same position. LO lnly sleep last in the napper and hates the bassinet!
  • @ashleylocke5 - the lulyboo can definitely be used on the floor! The bottom is thick and cushy. Super cozy - I wish they made them in adult size ;)
  • You could try a pack n play, raise the head of the mattress slightly by putting a rolled up towel underneath the mattress itself, place baby at the very bottom corner of the pack n play so it feels like she's surrounded on two sides with her feet touching the bottom side, then keep swaddled or use a sleep slack.
  • We have this- it's called the "tiny love 3- Ina 1 rocker." It lays flat but you can also tilt it up, it played music, lights up and vibrates. It rocks or you can put these little legs out so that its stationary. We used it for our first and loved it. Great for naps and to sit and play in. The only downside is that it doesn't fold down so it's not great to travel with. But it's light and easy to move around the house.
