suddenly fussy baby

Im a first time mom and my daughter is 5 weeks and sense the day we brought her home has been a fairly easy baby to please usually the only time she'd cry or fuss was when she was letting you know she was awake or hungry and suddenly the past 2 days and nights she's become really fussy for about an hour or so around bed time and during the day she's not sleeping very well maybe and hour or so between feedings. I ve tried giving maybe an oumce after her feedings thinking maybe that was why and she wants nothing to do with it, I've tried burping her in case of gas build up and nothing and I was just curious if this is normal and maybe she's just having a fussy time. Thinking of calling the pediatrician but don't want to sound stupid seeing that it's not uncommon for babies to have fussy times.

    My doctor said around week 6 to expect baby to cry more. But on the plus side smiles should be coming soon to!

    There's another post several of us with fussy 5 week olds were commenting on just today! For me it's definitely digestive system related, his system still getting used to functioning and I suspect something I've been eating messing with him too (ebf). Just hanging on and waiting for it to pass!

    Our little guy was pretty fussy during the evenings of week 5. Now at week 6 he's gotten much better! I'm guessing growth spurt!

    5 weeks is a common time for fussiness in babies, research the wonder weeks. My 5 week old also has been fussier while awake to the point where he pretty much only fusses while awake now and he used to be so content just being in his mama roo, now he cries if he's not in the carrier or being held

    Also if you google 'period of purple crying', it's supposed to start around this time too. Our hospital made us watch a dvd about it before discharge.

    Does your LO's fussiness include spitting up? Mine has for 2 days now and I'm going crazy. Any tips?

    LO is 6 weeks old and there has been a big increase in crying and fussiness. He wants to be held all the time. Glad to see its not just us

    Mine is only 2.5 weeks but just went through a couple fussy days with spitting up (and throwing up a couple times) per her pedi in her case it could be the beginning of reflux (oh fun) starting yesterday we have been using mylicon gas drops and she seems way more comfortable and hardly any more spit up. We have also been keeping her propped up for 20-30 min after she eats.
