Gender Ultrasound Question?

So I'm due April 30th, and I have no clue when I'll find out my baby's gender (though ultrasound). Had anyone found out through ultrasound yet? Or is anyone scheduled to find out yet? If so, when? And when is your due date?

Re: Gender Ultrasound Question?

  • A lot of people have found out via blood work connected to the 12 week (optional) NT scan.

If you're going to do an elective ultrasound I'd wait until about 16 weeks for the best results but I think they say you can go as early as 14 weeks.

Otherwise you'll wait until the 20 week A/S. I've heard some people schedule it as early as about 18 weeks but they made it clear at my NT scan that I should wait until at least 20 weeks. I think I was 21w with DD and I'll be 20w+5d with this LO when I find out.

    Due 4/1, A/S is on Nov 18.

I have a question like this I posted yesterday called "finding out gender at 15 weeks accuracy question" if you want to check it out. A lot of ladies posted some really good responses on there.

Hello OP! According to my LMP I'm due 4/30 as well.. According to the ultrasound dating I'm due 4/29. Not much of a difference!! My anatomy scan "not gender scan" is scheduled for November 11th, so yours should be around the same-ish time if we are due the same days. But the anatomy scan is to check the health of the baby, and make sure everything is growing the way that it should... You have the option to find out the sex during that time. But there is no specific ultrasound scheduled by OBs to find out just the sex. At least none that I am aware of.

Edit: I also believe the dating of your scans is dependent on the provider you see. Many women didn't get an ultrasound until their 12 weeks and my provider gave me one at my 10 week mark. So although mine is scheduled for 11/11 yours might be a different date because of your provider
  • I am due April 23. I have a "gender Revel" ultrasound scheduled with an outside lab on Halloween 10/31. I will be exactly 15 weeks. That is the earliest they will do an ultrasound for gender detection. My actual OB will not do ultrasound until i am 20 weeks which would be the first week of December for me. I pay the lad $85.00 for a package for a DVD with music, pictures and a stuffed animal.
  • Most OBs do an anatomy scan 16-20 wks and that's when you find out the gender.
  • I'm due 4/27 and will find out at my 20 week anatomy scan. That is mid-December
  • I'm due 4/24 and my anatomy scan is 12/10.
  • I am due on 4/14 and my ultrasound will be 11/13 at 18 weeks.
  • My first ultra sound was at 5 weeks and havent had one since
  • You can find out at 14 weeks with 100% accuracy provided the machine is good quality and baby is cooperating.

No... it's not bloodwork from the NT scan, people are finding out from the blood tests which is something different and is often not covered by insurance, particularly if you're low-risk.

You probably won't find out until your anatomy scan (18-20 weeks) unless you opt for an optional blood test like Harmony/Panorama/MaterniT... or you can go somewhere and pay for an elective ultrasound to find out sooner.
