Learning to poo blues

Anyone else having the hardest time ever watching their LO learn to poo? DS seems to clench when he's trying to push and he gets so frustrated and takes forever to have a bm. It's so hard to watch but I know there's nothing I can REALLY do except comfort him until he figures it out.

Re: Learning to poo blues

  • My little guy has had such trouble learning how to fart. He will push so hard and then it'll all come out with such force that the sensation freaks him out. It's getting better but it's hard to watch him struggle.

  • Yes! My baby girl gets so scared & looks shocked for a good 2-3 minutes afterwards. To the point she just holds really still & barely blinks! :-O
  • My DD has to be reminded to poo (as her pediatrician suggested) with a thermometer and Vaseline. Thankfully her expression is one of "I feel something somewhere but I'm not sure what it is".
    *Siggy Warning*

  • My guy has the same problem
He literally turns purple from being so upset trying to go. My ped recommended 2oz of apple juice and he got his hard poop out and then had a big softer one. So I think it helped. He hasn't popped mush since the hospital. All hard balls!
  • Poor guys! Who knew pooping could be such a big thing? Hoping our babes recover soon.
  • @jen83mn my son is the same way! I am sorry, but I giggled through this whole post. Isn't it funny how much of our lives revolve around these tiny humans and their poop! My LO didn't poop until 11:30 last night and around 5 I was getting worried because there was nothing AND THEN there was definitely something! WOW!
