Baby Clothing Size questions

Sorry this feels like the dumbest thing to ask, maybe I'm just being really dense. I'm trying to figure it out, though, and I'm hoping other moms can walk me through what I think should be a lot simpler ;-)

Some baby clothes are sized 0-3, others 3months, then 3-6 then 6 months and I'm wondering about the 3 months and the 6 months--are they the same size at the 0-3s and the 3-6s? Or are they in betweens? I'm trying to sort through the upcoming sizes since she's pretty much entirely sized out of newborns and I can't figure out how to organize them best so I don't accidentally not use a stash of sizes before she's outgrown them. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks!

    My daughter is in 0-3 now and I've been using the 3 month also. I did a side by side and it looks like they are about the same as that range, 3-6 and 6 month I have stashed together also.
  • I sort by the lowest month tagged. All 3-6 month clothes with 3 month clothes all 6-9 with 6 month clothes. That way, I won't miss putting something on her before she is too big for it.
  • @beansideirae I think so, because most of them seem to be carters brand and everyone seems to say carters is a bit bigger
  • @missrachelmrso that's a better way to organize than I've been doing, I just had them separated because I wasn't sure. Thanks!

    @cmlsu I think you're right
  • It depends on the brand, but I find that 6 month is closer to 3-6, and 12mo is closer to 6-12, so I have them sorted that way (1T is also in with 6-12 and 12m, then 18m with 12-18m, and 24m, 2T and 18-24 are together).

    There's a continuum with the sizing, I find some brands fit first, then others. So I store boxes of clothes like I said above, but once their out I keep big items in a box in the closet, and try them periodically.

  • The ones that just say one month is the oldest that the child should be when they fit in it. For example, 6 month should fit a 3-6 month old. But I just look at the item itself and know what will fit. Sizes are pretty unreliable.
  • I tend to think of it as 3 month is the same as 0-3 month, 6 month is the same as 3-6 month, etc. Or, think, they'll be grown out of it by 3 months, grown out by 6 months, etc.
  • With clothes sizes changing every 3 months at this point, it's hard to tell. It varies so much brand to brand. I will say that Gerbers tends to be a little smaller and Gap tends to be longer and skinnier. Old Navy and Carters are a little more true to fit for me, but it also depends on your baby's body type (they might get too long for a size before they fill it out, or vice versa).

    I will say that after a year, those range sizes are definitely in between. 12-18 months are definitely smaller than 18 months and 24 months even seems to be smaller than 2T. It's kind of a crap shoot.
