Yeah it is like the Baby Names discussion! Haha, I agree with all but the nickname one. If you like the nickname a lot and not the long versions, I don't see a good alternative. And if a kid uses the nickname and it is short for something they still have to answer that question, just with a different answer.
I am 100% convinced that La-a (la dash uh) is an urban legend.
While that may be an urban legend, my aunt witnessed nurses recommending (and young uneducated girls choosing) names of STDs that were pronounced in a prettier way.

Wow. Assuming your aunt isn't just pulling your leg, those nurses are terrible people.
I agree with everything in this article except having to share the name once you've chosen. I like when people keep it a secret til after birth.
Same--it's not ALWAYS because it's something horrible. It could be, like, "Hey, grandparent, we're naming the baby after you and wanted it to be a surprise!"
It's kind of impressive that so many people know someone who knows someone who has met a La-a or a Le-a, despite the fact that there has never been a year in which the Social Security Administration recorded at least 5 occurrences of that name, going back to at least 2000 (I gave up searching the records further back than that). Those (at most) 60 Le-as under the age of 16 must really get around.
Le-a is an urban legend.
I hope the std names are also.

Yes! When people call their unborn children by their names constantly on Facebook, I get sick of the names before the kids are even born. When it's a name attached to a cute little newborn, I don't feel the same way. I hate when people constantly refer to their pregnant bellies by name. I don't know why.

I mean, I had a good friend get pregnant at 15, and wanted to name it Cocane if it was a girl because it just sounded so pretty. Praise Jesus she had a boy.
Also, amusing article except for the bashing of Southerners - thanks for that lol. You should look up "How to Name Your Baby Properly" on YouTube by The Vlog Brothers. LOVE it.
