Calling baby wearers!

Did your baby just take to it? Or did they have to get use to it?
My lo is 2 weeks old and I tried putting her in my carrier(s) I have a couple different ones, and she screamed the whole time!
I don't know if it will take her getting use to it, or she will forever hate them.
I was also nervous wearing them so she may have sensed that a little...
I have a baby bjorn and one similar style from petunia pickle bottom..

Re: Calling baby wearers!

  • My little man loves his wraps! I haven't tried any actual carriers because my boyfriend decided the wrap and ring sling were cooler and he liked those better. I currently have a Moby wrap (it's cheap and good for fall/winter cuz it's thicker and warm) that baby loves, and a Sakura Bloom ring sling (it's lighter and a lot easier to slip on and off for quick trips to target)and these hold him right to my chest nice and snug. Also, don't be nervous!!! Babies feed off your vibes!!! LO has been in a carrier since 5 days old and falls straight asleep. Find what works for you and I can assure you that you'll both love it!

  • ^^this. Mine loves being wrapped. I have a Tula woven wrap that's amazing. And a snuggy baby ring sling. My wrap is so comfy. The material is incredible and gets softer as you wash. I plan to wear him on my back with it once he is bigger but he loves being wrapped tight against my chest. And I can steal little kisses that way too. We do 2-3 mile walks with it and he sleeps the whole time. He wasn't a fan the first time but has loved it since. I started at 3 weeks. Baby will come around. Just keep trying :)
  • Structured carriers aren't as snug, so it might just take some time getting used to it for baby. I've been using a ring sling and woven wrap, and baby loves both. The other trick is to get moving as soon as baby is in. She fusses if I'm trying a new wrap carry and take too long standing at the mirror. If I walk the stairs next, she falls asleep, then I can do anything.

  • I use the baby ergo with the infant insert starting at 3 weeks. He didn't like it at first, but after having him in it while calm, he took to it. He still fights being carried, but my trick is to walk around the block, do light housework, or sway in a room with an overhead fan until he gets drowsy or falls asleep. Then I can do other stuff. After about 20-30 minutes of wearing him I put him down in a rock and play and he continues sleeping.

This is pretty much my life saver for daytime since it calms him down from fussy times.

  • What @visualcircus said! My little girl fought the baby carrier tooth and nail - when I first tried putting her in the Ergo with the infant insert she was about two weeks old and I just think she wasn't quite strong enough to be comfortable in it yet. Now she's four weeks old and she will still get fussy when I first put her in the carrier but once she's in there getting bounced around she calms down and almost always falls asleep.

Keep at it! Don't give up! Best of luck :)
  • I started off using the ktan when she was just s couple days old and she loved it as long as I didn't stand around too long in the beginning like @ForeverEverAfter said. If she's in a grumpy mood when u out her in it she'll fuss for a couple of minutes but a good bouncey walk will soothe her fast.

Last night I used my baby Bjorn and she looooved it and so did I! It was perfect for our slightly windy walk and that tummy to chest position is her favourite for napping on the couch so it worked really well while I moved around.

I also have a areal that I haven't been brave enough to use but now that she's almost six weeks she has some really great neck control and is fatter, both of which make me feel more confident.

I think the ktan was the perfect starter but now I'm ready to expand and try out more carriers. Best of luck!!
  • We used a front-facing backpack-style carrier and started using it between 2-3 weeks pp. He was a little resistant at first, but I walked around with him in it bouncing him and he quieted down and was asleep within 5 minutes.

DD likes to be forward facing in the baby bjorn. When I face her towards me she immediately tries to nurse and gets mad when she can't. Then she cries and I turn her around.

  • We have a ktan that is great and was especially great when she was brand new. She is 6.5 weeks now and I finally feel the baby Bjorne is a good fit as well. She always fusses getting into it but then settles in and loves it. Before this week I felt she was too small/fragile for it (she is still only 8 pounds bc she was early). I would keep trying but maybe hold out until your baby is a bit bigger it might fit much better than
  • The Tula Ring Sling has been the best purchase for my LO. She loves it! Sometimes the only thing that soothes her.
  • My baby does not mind to be worn. We have two kinds:
The Bjorn that my husband uses.
The K'ten that I use. I use it on cold days because she can snuggle up and I could zip up my jacket around us both.
