High-Risk Pregnancy

Need Advice

Im not exactly sure where to post this but this board seemed to make the most sense. I am newly pregnant(5 weeks) and waiting for my bloodwork to come back. I have a didelphic uterus and have been told that I am high risk with a higher chance of miscarriage. We have been trying for 5 years and this was a complete surprise to us since we thought we wouldn't conceive without intervention and we're waiting to see a specialist at the end of the month. Our appointment was a 5 month wait and I am hesitant to cancel just in case I miscarry, but it is a 300 dollar out of pocket expense for this appointment and they require at least a week notice for cancellation! Any advice? Thanks.

Re: Need Advice

  • Congrats on your pregnancy!
I would try calling the specialist and explain your situation? Maybe they can make an exception since your circumstances have changed (positively!) I feel like it never hurts to ask or explain your situation..
Best of luck and keep thinking good thoughts..

I was in the same situation as you. Trying TTC for 7 months, got a referral to fertility clinic, but didn't get an actual appointment until 12 month mark. Got my BFP 2 weeks before my appointment, but I still went to it am glad that I did. Personally, I think it's worth the $300 to be in their system and ready to go if circumstances change and you need their services then to wait again. Although, I am 42 time was not a luxury I had.

  • I saw a fertility specialist after my loss and even though I didn't need help conceiving (I went to investigate my loss), I would use them again next time. I was much more satisfied with them during the first trimester (I "graduated" to an OB after that) than I was with my previous OB.
  • Could you get the appointment moved back a month? Then cancel a week before if you still don't need it.
