TTC after 35

Prayers and good thoughts needed - unrelated to TTC

While I was trying to fly home through 3 delays, my dog/best friend/fur baby Dallas was taken to the emergency vet last night and has to be monitored - seeing a cardiologist this morning - Been up all night and needless to say, I am freaking out. This is obviously sudden onset as he has done several 3 and 4 mile hikes/walks with DH as recently as yesterday. Didn't get into anything and no symptoms until he was disoriented and wobbly when DH got home yesterday. Heart is only getting a solid beat every three beats per vet (down to just 30 bpm) and emergency doc says she's seeing rhythms consistent with AV block. He's 8 and in great health. Pacemaker might be the path forward, which is really expensive but honestly, I can't lose him when/if he's otherwise healthy. Prayers always appreciated... Pic from a few weeks ago attached so you can give him an extra thought today.

  • Cardiologist says he is stable, but has a really slow heartbeat. Heart itself looks good - it's the electrical connection so to speak between the valves - he will need a pacemaker so we are waiting to hear from NC State on logistics. Thanks so much for the continued prayers!!
  • Oh @Infantino22!  How scary.  I'm glad you have an answer.  I'll pray for you both.  Please keep us updated!!

  • The surgery went well and he is being monitored to make sure the pacemaker is working properly. So far, so good! He can come home tonight if he continues to do well. Cannot wait to have him home! Keeping him stationary might be tough, but hopefully he'll be tired and groggy anyway. :)
  • Wow, so much happened so quickly! I'm glad Dallas is taken care of and I hope you can bring him home tonight. My cats mean the world to me, so I know how you feel.
