Postpartum Depression

Husband w/ bi polar

all help and advice and story's good bad and ugly are welcome !! I'm conserned about my husband and how he is going to reach after our baby comes. He has bi polar and manages pretty well he is on medication and usely does just fine. But with big changes he can go threw some pretty wicked ups and downs. I'm worried that I will get postpartum depression and will be unable to help him with his own. Anyone out there that has gone threw it before ? What should I prepare for what should I expect?

Re: Husband w/ bi polar

  • I just stumbled across this board and I see you posted this a long time ago but I'll answer anyway. My husband is bi polar and when I had our 1st almost two years ago he did really good, I took the major brunt of the sleepless nights and frustrating parts so they wouldn't trigger his symptoms. There were a few rocky days but all new parents go through that, he upped one of his anxiety meds for the first 3 months which are the most stressful and we all made it through ok. As exsausted as you'll be and as unfair as it might be at times the best advice I can give you is to let him get a little extra sleep when he can. Good luck!
