Business attire - having to wear suites!

hello all! Is anyone else in the same boat, I have to wear strict business attire. Matching suite and I must wear a blazer, just ordered belly band because I can no longer do my pants up and I've been looking everywhere! What are you ladies doing that have to wear a suite to work!

I wear business attire every day but alternate suits with dresses. I haven't had a problem yet but count on the looser dresses to keep me going when the bump shows itself. Can always wear an unbuttoned blazer over a dress too.

  • I usually wear a size 2 blazer. With my first, I easily fit into a size 6 blazer throughout my 9th month. (And I looked like I had a basketball under my shirt.)

I then took the blazer and matched it to whatever maternity pants that I was able to find. It worked well enough for court, even if it wasn't quite as nice as my formal full suits.
  • I am having a real problem finding suitable formal work clothes - all maternity wear in the shops seems to be jeans with striped t-shirts...ok for the weekend but not for my job! Currently wearing pre-preg trousers using elastic band to contain my bloat...
  • If there is any flexibility at all then I would echo others' recommendations of work appropriate dresses with blazers.  My office is also usually suits, but I wore blazers from Isabella Oliver and dresses from them as well as Boden, Seraphine, etc. With appropriate shoes and accessories I thought I looked as professional as anyone else.

I have to wear formal business attire for work and have found that Seraphine and Isabella Oliver have been my go-to. If you look on eBay you can pickup gently worn pieces much cheaper.

I'm now 35 weeks and still able to look professional.

  • Gap has some work pieces that may be suitable. I don't have to wear a jacket but in my last pregnancy I ordered their premium work pants and shirts from them. I have seen Blazers though.
  • This isn't probably the most helpful comment but I know there is a company out there somewhere that sells business attire outfits (pant suits, blazers, etc,)  in stretchy material. I vaguely remember a lady at my church selling this type of clothing. It was very fashionable and cute, but extremely comfortable and flexible. Gosh I can't think of the name... I think it was an at-home sales thing...like you have a party...similar to Tupperware or Pampered Chef...I'm sorry..I can't remember the name of it.

  • Ann Taylor has a pretty good maternity section where during my last pregnancy I was able to find business attire. Might be a good place to try? Good luck!

  • I feel like I've seen stuff like that on pea in a pod but it's expensive. You could always buy like 2-3 and just change up shirt and accessories frequently to make the outfits look different.

  • betabrand.com has yoga pant dress pants if that's what you're thinking of!

  • I'm having the worst time finding slacks/ work pants that aren't full panel. Any suggestions? I'm in the awkward phase where I'm down to one pair of pre-pregnancy slacks with a big enough waist but the full panel maternity pants are enormous.
  • I have to wear "suits" or "suit separates" every day. My go to is an empire waisted dress or looser fitting shift dress, blazer/jacket and pumps. Hats off to the ladies wearing pants - wayyyyy too much trouble for me!

  • Asos.com has a pretty great maternity selection with some very nice dresses/blouses/etc. though I can't say if they have suits.  But nice classic dresses are usually considered business, right?  And while asos is a UK based company you can get 2 day shipping for just $12 bucks...  (I'm an addict, I won't lie...)  I hope this helps!
