My sister just let me know she and my 5 year old niece have lice. I was over there house on Saturday for my baby shower. I don't feel itchy yet, am I in the clear?!
I would get your head checked and treat yourself for a lice infection anyway just to be safe. I'd also wash everything like towels and bedding in hot water. it's better to be safe, rather than dealing with a lice infestation.
Buggguhh! SET EVERYTHING ON FIRE. No, but really I would get checked and take the preventative precautions NOW just in case....and alert your guests at the shower!
That's going to be an awkward Thank you card..."thank you for coming to my shower, btw....you may have lice".
I'm pretty sure that u would have it by now since it is Tuesday. Just wash those clothes, jacket and any other items that u wore that day in hot water. I wouldn't bring the gifts into your house just yet as well. Keep them in a garage for awhile. Do not treat your head with lice stuff! Your pregnant and u can't use that over the counter shampoo and stuff it even states it on the bottle.
Call your doctor if u end up with lice to find out what u should do.
I'd get checked to be clear. My boys brought this home from a friends a few weeks back. To treat, we ordered "vamousse" it's enzyme based rather than pesticide based so it's safe and the bugs are not immune. We also ordered a comb on amazon (I forget the name but round handle and green packaging). We washed all bedding and dried on high heat, then left the house for 24 hours. It was gone in a single day.

Yeah if I were you i'd be buying the shampoo anyway. I have anxiety so when I picked up lice in middle school i literally asked my mom to shave my head because the thought of bugs walking and sucking on my head was keeping me up at night. I was a bald lice free teenager
Call Doctor and treat yourself. I just got over having it myself, which I got from the doctors office. I gave it to my 3 year old and am still dealing with cleaning things a week later because I am so scared they will come back. Worse thing I have ever dealt with! I am also 35 weeks pregnant!
You also might not see anything for a week. It does take 5-7 days for lice to start moving in your hair. You could have nits, eggs which is what I originally found in my daughters hair since I had just given to her.
Call for sure, there's a new strain of lice and they're becoming more resistant to the normal course of treatment.
Hopefully you don't have it, but it's definitely something to get ahead of. This late in the game you don't want to have to deal with more than you have to. Wishing you the best!
Uggggh, lice are the worst. Itching can take a while to set in, so I would definitely ask somebody to help you check your scalp right away. SS had them like four times when he was younger because his mom kept taking him to the same friend's house for some reason, knowing that they had lice and were having trouble getting rid of them. So sad having to treat him for it (apparently the treatment is not a pleasant experience, because he bawled every time).
You can saturate you hair in coconut oil and wear a shower cap over night before combing out. It will smother the lice but it needs to be done every few days.
White vinegar.. Lice hate the smell!!! I only had lice one time and my brother is actually allergic to an ingredient in the lice treatment so we bagged everything up in big bags and put it out in the garage.. Lice die after 2-3 days with no food source so just switch out your pillows daily or toss them in general and buy new.. Soak your hair in vinegar before bed time and wrap it in a shower cap or something over night and just do that every night for about a week.. Do your best to not sit on your couch for a few days.. We brought our kitchen chairs into the tv room and sat on those and it worked just fine.. Wash your hair in the morning so you don't smell like a pickle.. We only did it this way because of my brothers allergy so if your ok to use the treatment I would use it..
They have "lice prevention" shampoo. It has tea tree oil, rosemary and citronella. If it turns out your in the clear you may want to pick some up for peace of mind.
MAYONNAISE!!! I used to get lice all the time as a kid and my mom never used the lice treatment. We always put mayo in our hair, scrubbed it in as if we were shampooing or conditioning it, wrap it up in a shower cap or plastic walmart bag, and leave it in from morning until we goto bed or overnight depending on how bad we had it, then takw a shower and wash it out. It smells horrible, but it kills the lice and the eggs, and a big positive it makes your hair super soft! Also a drop or two of tea - tree oil In coconut shampoo will help future prevention. I do that and the mayo treatment at least once a month for prevention.
As for everything else, wash all cloths you had that day and any other cloths that came in contact with you or those cloths since that day, wash bed sheets blankets pillows and pillowcases, then put everything else (stuffed animals((still needs washed to play it safe)), or whatever you got from baby shower) in a garbage bag and tie it up and leave it in there for a week.
ETA even if your in the clear, it would still be safest to go ahead and treat your hair just in case. If you have very few lice or eggs at first, you may miss finding them until it's to late and you have it like crazy, by that time you wouldn't think much of itching bc you thought you were clear at first.
