Trouble TTC

Why hello there!

Good morning everyone!

I am 29 and my DH is 32. We got married in February of 2013 and have been officially TTC since October of 2013.

A little history...all along I had a mind frame (or at least acted like) of not caring. When it happens it happens. Last September my DH when for some testing and everything came back normal. My cycles have always been a little long, sitting around the 35 day mark and the OPK's never did a thing for me. This January I finally caved and started seeing a natural path and talking to my family doctor. We also bought a clearblue fertility monitor in January (not sure what peoples opinions are of that.).  I had a lot of blood work done and an ultrasound and from what they can see, everything is normal. After all that, my doc decided that my body was being wonky and I wasn't actually ovulating when we thought I was so he basically chalked it up to timing being off. (he made me feel like an idiot a little and didn't appear interested in exploring other possible issues)  He did refer me to a specialist though and we go at the end of October (it was like a 6 month wait for an appointment).

Where I'm at now...I continue to temp on a daily basis and use the fertility monitor every cycle and the past three cycles (knock on wood) have been excellent. I'm ovulating when I should and my cycles are lasting between 28 and 30 days. I have been feeling lately that I'm doing a fafillion different things a day just to get my body to act 'Normal' and get KU and that thought alone makes me feel not normal.

I've been lurking for a while but am looking forward to getting to know all of you a little better and join in on supporting everyone.

Re: Why hello there!

  • Hey there! I totally lurked for a few months too, I was kinda in denial that things were off. But my cycle was irregular, between 24-32 days long. Then I found out I have PCOS, so the meds have really helped a lot getting a regular cycle of 26 days now. So I feel you on the whole struggle to be "normal".
Sorry your wait is so long for a RE! That makes it tough, are there other ones in your area you can check out?

  • Have you done HSG to make sure your tubes are open and everything looks ok?
  • @Soverthisno we haven't done that yet. I'm hoping that at the specialist appointment next Monday we can get moving on a few more tests. I will add this to my book of notes!

  • Welcome! I've never participated in an online community & never thought I would, but I started to feel crazy and connecting here has definitely helped. I completely relate to the nonchalant attitude but then you realize what an insane world infertility is. In my case opks, temping, gluten free, lots of supplements, cut down caffeine, and all the while "don't get stressed!" ;) It's a rollercoaster I didn't really want a ticket to ride...but here we are. Hoping your RE appt foes well.
