I think this video gives a realistic view of how to prepare for caring for yourself after giving birth! It's so important! I agree, no one ever tells you that MAJOR piece of information!!! I wish I saw it when before I gave birth!!!!!
This is all very true, and I had no clue going into it. My nurse compared preparing my pads to making a deli sandwich with the tucks pads and then I added preparation H on top. It was very much like that!
Very, very true. Good control over inflammation= better healing. If you don't want to buy the tucks pads, you can also buy witch hazel and pour it on pads, baby wash cloths, or very soft paper towels (like viva)

I was never so afraid to poop as I was after birth! Best advice I was given on my BMB - grab a Tucks pad or toilet paper or even nothing at all and apply counter-pressure to your vagina and perineum while you push out that poo. Your hand will get dirty, but that is what soap is for.
The other really weird and disgusting feeling you will have in those first couple days after birth will be all the blood gushing out every time you stand up.
