Best Sacramento Suburbs

Hi all!

We currently live in the East Bay but in a little less than 2 years my husband will be separating from the military but since I'll be seeking licensure for my career we're looking at staying state for a while.

We really like Northern Cali but where is live is so expensive and absolutely NOT safe.

I'm asking everyone's opinions on the best Suburbs within 30 minutes of Sacramento.

We'd like a place with:

EXCELLENT schools (very important)

more home for your buck

tight knit/ community oriented (would be nice)

I'd like some character in the town

SAFE (like going to the park without druggies and homeless people or worrying about kids picking up needles etc)

Some of the places we've been glancing at are Granite Bay, Rocklin, Roseville, and Folsom but we're open.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Folsom, el dorado hills... Roseville is nice but the traffic out there is a mess.

Your list looks pretty thorough. I would add El Dorado Hills if you haven't already checked it out.
